Hi guys, first post in the basement so I'm hoping you can help out. I'm looking at carving some baits over the winter and my wife asked for Christmas ideas. Only thing I could think of was a knife for whittling/carving. Wondering if you could give any advice in terms of style (if there are diff. styles) and brands that you would suggest. Not looking to go high-end here - just something basic that will work.

Also, I'm sure the type of wood may make a difference - advice there would be great as well. Looking at doing a dive & rise, then maybe a large crankbait.

Thanks in advance - I'm looking forward to learning.
