Don't watch a bobber. Put the sucker right under your transducer. Move slow and lift it up and down over weeds as needed. Kinda like watching the vexilar.

happy hooker - 10/31/2016 2:17 PM Personally I don't fish suckers but I do believe that below 50 degrees water temp they do "trigger" bites better. But you definitely cover more water casting and trolling in a fall smaller window season. It would be interesting to have a late fall tournament where live bait and lures are allowed on a premiere lake. Wouldn't be the least bit interesting! Livebait would completely dominate the leaderboard. The one chance I would give casters of trollers would be on a cisco based lake with very few weeds (parts of Vermilion or Mille Lacs). Tonka, Pelican, Detroit, West Battle, Miltona would all be dominated by those fishing live bait.

For a short break anyways lol.

Posts: 656 Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | In past years I've caught muskies in late Nov and early Dec, before they started closing the season on Dec 1, trolling crankbaits at 2 to 5 mph in temps from the upper 40s to the mid 30s right before ice up. You don't have to use suckers in cold water.
