Posts: 1636 | Weird having to believe you need a fresh start after so long... I am interested to know if anybody is interested in sharing any stories about how they first came across MuskieFIRST... I would love to read some of the positive things that went on - early on. I wish I had an interesting story to write... I just found it in 2001. Just happened to come across it. Happy I did - and more than happy the website is still around. Have a great day everyone. Anyone remember this look? Edited by Reelwise 10/14/2016 1:44 PM Attachments ---------------- The real... Posts: 14 | I was invited to go on a trip to Lake of the Woods in 2008. I had fished my whole life, but being from Texas, this was a whole different animal. I began to research Muskie fishing, and this site proved to be the best in my opinion. It was able to get me started, and has helped me better pursue this dang fish each year since. After the 2008 trip, I knew this was something that I couldn't get out of my system. I became a a member in 2009.

Posts: 32784 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Jeff78 - 10/15/2016 7:50 AM Started at Walleye Central, went over to Muskie Central which morphed into Muskiefirst. You can still find archives of Muskie Central. Zach built WC, and talked me into taking on editor duties of MC. That's where we were until the owner sort of created a 'situation' that made staying there less than attractive. Started our own media company and never looked back. Doesn't seem possible 15 years has gone by.... We are delighted everyone found the place. Good crew on board these days, I even had a nice visit with Ranger over the weekend. He's doing well, and caught a 15" crappie on Vermilion, too. Stand by for the long awaited changes we've been working on for a couple years. Should be coming this Winter. Looking forward to the changes. Thanks. Yes, what Northwind said. Actually the same guy. Changed the name due to a career change and eventual attitude adjustment. Found this site and found alot of good information here involving the Outdoors...and Muskies too. Learning to separate the BS from the good is the key. Thanks to everyone involved here, and best wishes moving forward.

Posts: 1080 | I was thinking it was around 2003 that I found this place. But...looking up my user name in the User List...seems I registered in October of 2004. So...I can't recall if I actually signed up and created a user name the very first time I found this place in Oct of 04 or of I had been lurking prior to that? Yes...was looking at Muskie Hunter and Muskie101 back then too. Seems back then I was trying to follow a lot of different muskie fishing sites as well as sites for other species of fish. Once I got married and started a family and had kids...I could no longer keep up with "making the rounds" to check in on all of those various different sites. Realized back then I was seeing a lot of the same user names and a lot of the same topics on all of those boards and realized I was spending too much time trying to keep up with all of them...and...thus...I told myself it was time to downsize and simplify on the number of forum boards I tried to keep up with. I bailed from all the others and stuck with this one. It seemed to be the one I kept coming back to and it's worked out just fine for me. Edited by MACK 10/17/2016 9:59 AM

Posts: 706 Location: Richland Center, WI. | My boys and I were at a musky show in West Salem WI back in 2006. I bought a couple lures from Shane West. He asked if I knew about the Muskiefirst website. That is how I found my way here. Ken

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | there was a time when MH was relevant and had a lot of traffic ... big group of guys who were curious and some who loved to talk football and there was always a clash of a group bashing the other group with some form of implied identity that you were a MHer, Nut, M1er or any form of other upstarts. this one lasted and thankfully steve let me open up the basement where guys could chew the fat like we used to back in the day. i think originally it was in the late 90's early 00's ... lots of good friends and enemies along the way ...

Posts: 8716 | I used to bounce back and forth between Lake Link, The Nut, 101, and MH back in the day. Not sure when I found MuskieFIRST. I'd say 2004 or 2005 if I had to guess. Made some good friends. Probably made a few enemies along the way too.
