Posts: 32759 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | 39 anglers will attack the waters of Vermilion the rest of the week in search of a trophy muskie, enjoy Spring Bay Resort's incredible hospitality, maybe freeze up a little in the mornings, and enjoy a great Fall muskie trip. So far (since a few arrived early), we know of a 38" pike, 45" musky, two 47" muskies (one with a KILLER good video I'll have up tomorrow) a 50.5" male, and a 52" tank. Heck of a cold front rolled in tonight with a hard freeze forecast for tomorrow AM. Might be just what we need to really kick 'em into gear the rest of the week. The fire ring was a good time this evening! Posts: 32759 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The outing is going very well, and Slamr, I have fished Muskies more than crappies already, and will tomorrow, too after we show Ranger what we are doing to put 40 crappies over 1 pound in the boat today. Moved one so far. There were two 45s and a 50 caught today, have the 50 and the 45 for you. Having a BLAST! We had a sucker in the water almost all day yesterday. Posts: 1636 | I have always wanted to make it up to one of these outings. Spring Bay Resort was where I stayed when me and my friends took our first Muskellunge trip, back in high school. Still see the memories flash before my eyes when I pull for them. Did Steve end up fishing for Muskies yet? Edited by Reelwise 10/14/2016 11:09 PM

Posts: 94 | Sworrall I'm just curious and please don't be offended or take this the wrong way. I mean no harm at all, I will be up in two weeks for Halloween weekend for musky staying at Spring Bay, best resort on the lake. I'm curious when you use a sucker for musky that angler who is using that sucker cannot do anything else correct? What I mean is he can't have a sucker going and cast like in Wisconsin, Minnesota is only 1 rod per angler correct? I guess I could look it up. I've never tried a sucker there and I would really like to, I just don't want that to be my only rod I don't have enough patience and need to cast as well. Thank you for any info I just want to be within the law and sportsmanlike myself. Jim

I took my nieces son out pheasant hunting 12 year old he got a few shots off no birds but he had a blast. The funnest thing was when he said he had to go number 2 i asked if he could hold it he said no. We were a mile from the truck so i told him he was going to have to use grass.he was a good sport abought it.good times . He said he wants to go again.i think my fishing is over for the year.

Posts: 1166 | Got home, emptied the boat and buttened her up. Having an after dinner refreshment and reflecting on the trip. Came up solo last year and had a great time. Sorry Bill and Sam and company couldn't make it his year. You guys were great cabin mates. Brought a net man this year, and had a great time with Kevin and Ryan as cabin mates. Go Cubs! Down 1-0 right now, but we know what happened last night. My net man ends up catching the 50, so now I guess I'm the net man. Burned some wood and had a little nip of the apple pie, made for another fun time. Steve, saw you heading north on the south side of Virginia with a confused look on your face, wondered if you forgot something. Then I found myself in Gilbert and thought maybe you got caught going the wrong way like I did. I just shot over to 53 from Gilbert.

Posts: 84 | This was my first time attending, and it was awesome. I kept saying every day was the day for it to happen, but unfortunately we didn't boat one. Oh well, still an awesome lake and I met some great people up there. Hope to make it work again in the future.

Tommy, a bit redundant sometimes but in the fly fishing community there is a saying that gives us much...."Some people fish their entire lives without realizing it's not the fish they're after!" Okay, so it sounds good but it says something....;)) Better luck next time. At least you were there. Edited by Jeremy 10/18/2016 5:56 PM
