Location: Glen Ellyn Il | My favored time of year the fall it's coming and I have been busy making baits for my fall trips until ice out
This year I have made a bunch of bucktails different sizes and color, it was a lot of fun making them, last time I made some was back about six years ago. My favored bait to make lately it has been making large jerk/rise baits, the first once I made were from hardwood, they work okay, but they will not rise as fast, the plus side you do not need any ballast, the second batch I made was from basswood and those I could put 26 grams of lead and they work great, the last batch I made are from red cedar, this bait I can put 59 grams of lead and there is room for more. The red cedar its a little more buoyant than basswood, I like it because I have a larger span for the amount of lead I can use, so I made one heavier and one lighter for a faster rise, I also made a little guy and I tested it at my pond and it is an awesome bait, that will get bit for sure, here are some pic.
