Did anyone watch the AML episode today? I almost peeed myself when Herbie smacked Gillespie in the mouth. I can't help but to think he did that because of how Gillespie grabbed Julian and told him to get out of the way LMAO. I don't know Herbie , but will shake his hand at the next show LOL.

Yes I saw that too it was awesome, it was driving Herbie nuts just like me. I was yelling at my tv saying STFU john get out the way the net man was trying to his job and motor mouth says Julian get out of the way, WOW. A guy whose had a fishing show for over 20 years don't know to let the net man next to the angler is behond me. Then when he was walleye fishing they didn't have a net in the boat? WTF. Here is a tip leave a net in the boat. Problem solved. The best part was when right after Herbie slapped John, Pete and Herbie and myself were laughing so loud and couldn't stop, that was the best part. I was saying for gods sake someone put some tape over Gillispies mouth.

I love the show. Going to watch it shortly but there have been many classic moments over the years.

The best of part of the whole thing was after the slap upside the head, Pete, who had caught the fish starting laughing so hard he is lucky he didn't fall out of the boat. Gillespie is always over the top loud, but he was out of control on that show. Somebody on his production team needs to start monitoring his meds. Either needs more of something or less.

I will say this, despite having done so many shows and doing one 50 times a year, Gillespie still gets really excited about fishing. There is something about that I appreciate. Lindner does too, but he does not do nearly as many shows as Gillespie. I had a chance a couple years ago to talk to Pete after he did a work shop at a show and he just laughed and said the guy genuinely is that excited about catching fish.

We've always referred to Gillespie's show as "drunk man fishing". I kinda think we were right on that this week.

I think the incident, his intro and exit music/video defines what the show is about. You can nit pick anything, it is still one of the best shows out there.

its always a blast getting together with the boys and doing realtime stuff. it is what it is and you never know what will happen. we only had a 1/2 day to get a walleye segment which danny got done easily and what he had been doing routinely daily and an 8 hr day to get a musky segment. not 4-5 days put into 20 minutes. no monsters but got 3 decent avg fish, seen 8-9 more, had a couple double follows, had a couple chances at 50"+ but all in all not bad especially since the fish had been a bit testy the previous couple days and what a guest at AML can reasonably expect and what we ultimately wanted to show. and...lots of fun. "the slap" was not planned, choreographed, and obviously not edited but it something we will laugh about and remember for a long time. and yes, he really does still get excited even after hundreds of shows and a grueling daily/ 52 week schedule. no matter what you got to appreciate that and what still makes his show the highest rated and one of the best out there.
we'll be getting together again in oct.,stay tuned...we never know what might happen!!! one thing is for sure we'll be catching fish and having fun together.
