Occasionally I get in the mood to try something really odd, so I took this Sea Cow and added a metal tail extension with screws and epoxy. Once the wind stops blowing here I'll take this monster out and test the action. Pulled from the head it will be like a Suick-Sea Cow, but if that doesn't work I'll try pulling it from the metal lip. If I add a plastic skirt to the head it has the shape of a distressed squid when pulled from the metal lip and I can fob it off on my buddy who fishes for tuna in Mexico in the winter.

You tried the bait already? I would bet the heavy metal lip and the angle would upset the action. How secure is the lip to use it for fishing? Bait looks great and I always enjoy your work.

I just finished the lure today and we've got 35-45 mph winds with 70 mph gusts so even I'm not Loco enough to go out and try it. I might get to it tomorrow although I'll have to take the boat out. Right now the lake has been dropped 4' and my waterfront property is now mudfront property so I can't cast from shore. The extra lip has two screws plus epoxy. Might not hold for muskies but I think it will be good for small tuna.

That's thinking outside the box buddy. You might have hit on something there.

I finally got out and tested the lure. It's no longer a glider, that's for sure. If you pull it from the head it stays shallow and spins around it's axis. That might work for tuna on the surface. If you pull it from the metal lip it dives like a champ and the tail (which is now the head) wags back and forth with a bout a 12" excursion. It looks like you can also troll it pretty fast in that configuration which is a plus for tuna fishing. Not a total bust but not a brilliant brainwave either.
