Posts: 20178 Location: oswego, il | Here are some bucktails I made for club raffles. Nothing new idea wise here just melting some together. Been making them for about 17 years and probably made 1500 or so for raffle prizes. The first two are trolling bucktails. Very heavy 12 blades the top with a 4" spoon and the bottom a 5"er. Tested them out this august and they look excellent in the water. Middle pic are for casting or trolling. Heavy 8 blades. I like how these work as well. Fish do too. The nice thing is you can swap out spoons if you want something different. The Johnson slamma spoons work well too. Just upsize the split rings. The bottom two are double ten thin Indiana blades with a squid trailer. Been making them forever with a variety of skirts. Not fancy by any standards but they work well. Location: Eastern Ontario | I especially like the top two trolling spoons ( they all look good ) how deep will they run? Have you ever tried double willowleaf? Edited by horsehunter 11/15/2015 10:32 AM

Posts: 20178 Location: oswego, il | I have made many double willow leaf, French, Indiana and Colorado blades for many years. They work great. I am not sure how deep the trollers run exactly. I was running them back 40ft with 4 and 6oz weights. These 12 blades are.really thick. I will post a pick of a double willow I made. I do lime using the original round rubber. I like how it moves and I can make my own skirts, control the amount and colors.

Are they strictly made for attracting sub 50" fish? I don't believe those are #12 blades without a bumpboard.

Posts: 441 | They all look awesome!! Todd, are those salmon trolling spoons, in the first pic? Do you find that lighter or heavier spoons, on the casting bucktails, work better? Thanks, John

Posts: 20178 Location: oswego, il | I have not found a spoon that didn't work. Granted these are bigger salmon spoons, 5 and 4". I have used a bigger daredevil style spoon and it works.very well.

Posts: 20178 Location: oswego, il | Made some more yesterday during the snow storm. The tube is a fat 6' tube that is a just like the old mann's tube with the thick tenacles. pulsates well in the water, best tube I have seen for a spinner and no salt in them! It's articulated so you can replace the tube when it is worn out. The spinnerbait has a very thick skirt. It is attached with two double looped stranded wire and a crimp. It also appears that I may have made it upside down. As far as names go, Steve Cady called them TM Tails along time ago and it sort of stuck. I suppose if I were looking for a new name, No 50 lure Co., Big Forehead Lure Co., or Blue Glove Lure Co.
