Looks like the dates for the summer outing at Spring Bay will be Aug. 20-27th, 2016. Always a great time, good food, great prizes, and fantastic hosts, Steve and Joe Amundson and the rest of the crew.

Nick and I will be there too.

Fall outing was pretty rough.
Can't remember number of fish caught but it wasn't very many.

We have 6 guys from the Headwaters Chapter of Muskies Inc. in Eagle River, Wis. signed up and in the Big Thunder cabin. Have to start working on my joke list. Have a new St. Croix Elite Musky rod I built myself that needs a good workout. Full moon is the 18th so 1st weekend should be hot.

Absolutely. Plenty of protected shoreline waters no matter what the weather.

A 16' boat will work fine. All the hazards on Vermilion are very clearly marked so you should not have a problem that way. Steve will mark up a map for you. Spring Bay is on the Western side of Vermilion and is 10,000 acres vs. the Eastern side which is 30,000 acres with lots of open water which makes it difficult in high winds.

Heck, there were a guys in a flat bottom at the outing a few years ago. You'll be fine, there's plenty of spots and fish close to the resort.

I think I'm making a comeback this year, but I'll be doing muti-species fishing. Steve, Sue...I'm bringing my deep fryer. Too bad it's too late for Taylor to come. She and I might have our own Spring Outing.

Pack clothes for every weather type. Last year was cold, wet and windy for several days, wore a winter hat and every piece of warm clothes I had. Previous years has been hot and humid.
