I'm interested in making my own bucktails and had a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with. I want to keep them similar to the size of musky killers, blue fox vibrax, bucher 500s. Showgirls are about as big as id like to go for now. I figured for blades I'd use #6 or #7 and .051 for the wire but as far as the clevis, lure bodies, and beads i don't know what I should be looking for.
Any tips or recommendations I'd appreciate and would be a big help!
Thanks
Zach

i do know that the smaller bucktails run a wire thickness of .045 or there abouts. just use the lure your trying to copy and compare it to the components in the catalogs, they usually have full size charts for comparisons.

Hopefully this helps

.45 or .51 wire, your preference
1/4 beads -- weighted or un-weighted your preference
# 68 lure body
# 6 Clevises
1/4 weights or 3/8 weights, your preference
Shrink wrap on hook
# 5 Split Ring
Mustad 3551 - # 6 hook ( again your preference )
