Just wondering what brand of fluorcarbon holds up the best, want to start making my own leaders. I run stealth leaders now, which work great, does anybody know what kind of flurocarbon they use? Thanks!

There is a brand X for fluorocarbon? Geez. I have used seagar, high seas, vanish and another brand I forget what it was. All the above mentioned are great.

question on differences ... i make plastics and there are a couple things that could differentiate brand A from brand X. the extrusion process is what's used to make filaments and then there is a tensilizing process, so 1. process control and specifically in the area of temperature profile of the extradate ... materials "like" a profile where the resin is sheared more than just melted to liquify it and then the control of the tensilizing process, cooling (annealing) and winding, 2. materials ... scrap is often fed into the master batch as repro but usually at a controlled percentage to maintain quality. in China all bets are off, usually crap equipment with bad controls and then a high repro percentage or even pcr (post consumer repro) and other fill materials to cheat on raw material cost. that said, there are controlled factories where they are produced by foreign owned companies and kept under good controls.

brand loyalty on products like this makes sense to me.

I have never bought into the marketing of flourocarbon.
People tell me it's invisible in water then put green or red loop protectors and on the ends.
I have a friend who has for 25 years successfully used 130 pound hard mono leader material at a 20th the cost of flouro
Muskies are not particularly leader or line shy and even in the clear water of the St Lawrence lots of big fish have been caught on wire line as well as wire leaders.

Over the years I've used wire, braided wire, nylon coated wire, mono, flouro as well as on occasion no leader. Currently using single strand wire and flourocarbon but when my supply of Seagar runs out I will be switching to 130 pound saltwater hard mono leader material to save enough coin for another crooked running crank bait.

I will always run wire when bouncing the rocks

I've used Stealth Tackle since they first came out 8-9 years ago with no problems, I did see an off brand get bit completely through last week in Canada by an absolute tank of a fish (hope she threw the medusa later), but have never had that happen with any stealth leader.

Yes don't know if its age or the sun or what. It's one of the reason I'm going to hard mono it's so cheap I can tie a new one up in the boat every fish or every day or whenever I feel the need.
