I'm still able to do the clear ones around 3 am. Avoid some traffic that way too. Otherwise my plans involve heading north until we get a good cold front come in. Better make sure I don't bring any walleye gear to Mille Lacs...

The west side of Minnetonka was 78 last Thursday afternoon, down to 76 or so by 3 in the morning. Put in at North Arm around 3 Friday afternoon and it was 81.5 towards the back of the bay, but 79.5 out in the main lake late afternoon, down to around 76 by the middle of the night. Didn't even put in until 8 last evening--the warmest I saw in the main lake was 80.0, coolest I saw at night was 77.5. North Arm was back up to 79 at 7:30 this morning when I left.

80 degrees is just an arbitrary number, but it seems to be as good as any and it's the one I use. Looking at the forecast, I doubt we'll be much below 80 even at night in the metro. I've already made plans to head north the next couple weekends, but it would be great to get some rain or a cold spell to cool things off regardless.

It might no be too long for up north with this weather. It was 74 in the early morning on Leech yesterday. It hit 80 mid-day (flat calm and blazing hot), a afternoon breeze stirred it up and it was back down to 77-78 when we left the lake around 10:30. I was on Vermillion the weekend prior and it was 73-77.

Water temps where near 80 this afternoon on the LOTWs. Calm and hot, be very careful with the fish. Look like a cool down in the next few day, hope that saves a few muskie's lives.

Over 80 on vermilion. Good thing theyre not biting. If you must fish use common sense with the fish and when you fish.

Anyone get out in the metro after the rain this morning (especially Minnetonka)? I'd be interested to hear what that did to the temps. Looking at the long-range forecast, it doesn't look too brutal for the metro. Hopefully if we have to stay off the water it won't be for long.
