Subject: Double Flaptail

Hi all, here is the second revision of a double flaptail I make.  I changed the blade mounting bracket to be easier for me to snip out and shifted it forward for better balance and a neater installation.  My original models had a drop hook like most flapails, but I didn’t like that it limited how close I could fish to weeds and that it didn’t easily fit into my upright tackle box.  I changed it to a strait out configuration and added a brass blast tube to protect the wire shaft from nicks and to add to the sound profile.  Some original features the bait still has are the convex belly and extended line tie.  These make for a tunable lure depending on the conditions.  If it’s flat calm and you want a more subtle presentation you can curve the line tie up and slow your retrieve down and have the blades plooping and ticking on the surface.  Or if there’s a chop on the water and you want to make some noise, you can curve the linetie down, seed up the retrieve and really make a racket.  I hope to get a video of it sometime this summer

Great looking bait. I bet the blades make a great sound hitting the brass tube as well.
