His ridiculously inadequate setup with a bass reel and undoubtedly his usual 20# test line. And he's feeling like a failure after two days?! Dude, sturdy up!!

Once you realize what it is he does and just accept it for what it is then you're able to sit back and chuckle. Don said they tried to get him to say some over-the-top stuff and he just couldn't. Jeremy does it with a straight face!

So all this time I've been pouring beer in the water to gain the favor of the musky gods... I've been doing it wrong. They like Tobacco?

That's because they paid for everything, no freebies. He's booked for a whole month with Don this year. He must have gotten hooked on the challenge, don't know what other drama he can come up with

Watching the eepisode now. Laughing a little bit. It is kinda funny. Always thought this episode was going to be on at some point. don't really like the early spin on em tho. Saying aggressive and overplaying some of the "attacks" idk. That bugged me, otherwise, I feel entertained. So that's good

I loved it. I laughed my ass off the whole time as the badass fisherman who travels the world and catches all kinds of monsters in exotic locations got defeated musky fishing. It absolutely broke him. On the after show the lady asked if he was about to give up and he said he already did. He was jigging for a baitfish cause he gave up on believing in himself as an angler. All my friends who have no clue about serious fishing who see Jeremy Wade on TV and think he's the ultimate fisherman now got a little glimpse into the musky world and how challenging it can be. Everyone who hears me talk about it and probably thinks "maybe its a little hard but can't be that bad" now just saw the River Monster guy who catches everything, not catch a musky for a whole week until it was a fluke. The show is cheesy and has added drama but you can tell he's a genuinely good person and lives and breathes fishing and that at the end of it he's now got great respect for the musky and is now pretty much hooked on the challenge. He said he only had 3 days then next thing you know he's on day 8. Yeah he canceled whatever plans he had cause he got addicted just like we all are and just had to catch one.

A lot of valid critique... but bottom line... Jeremy introduced hundreds of thousands folks outside of our relatively small community to the mystery, mystique and legendary lore of the "Monarch of Freshwater"... who likely NEVER knew just HOW amazingly challenging is our quest nor imagined the warriors heart beating in Masquinonge Esox.
I'm thinking this was VERY GOOD for our sport and gave civilians a desirable glimpse into our passionate pursuit.

Yeah, this is what bugged me about the episode. That said though, it wouldn't be "River Monsters" without at least 1 human attack. He would not have done the episode without that. As soon as they said a kid was "attacked" in shallow water I knew they were talking about muskie. But still bugged me how they put it out there as an over aggressive, fearless killer that attacks people. Cause we all know thats just not how it is.

Like I said, other then that. I personally loved the episode

I bet he caught several musky during filming but played the 10k cast mystique ...had to add drama. The spirit on the rock and landing a 48 on small gear was all climatic staging. He probably got that on the first day.

that's not really what happened there...He had 3 days to fish the Wabigoon/Clay River ....not 3 days for the entire trip.

Kinda funny how he came into town and must have demanded someone get him on a river to match the show name. That was a 3 day waste of time and he could have been on much better water then that in those parts....

The most realistic and non-commercialized muskie show I've ever seen.
