Location: Waconia,MN		Wondering what's the best way to coat a hinged swim bait. I have one going on my turner now that i coated the joints with epoxy them assembled it then coated with etex trying not too get any of it in the joints. Not sure if this was the best way, and i won't know till the etex cures. Was thinking of trying an automotive urethane clear. Would like to post a pic but i can't get it to work from my phone, gonna have to wait til i get too my computer. What do you guys think.

I usually let the etex get in to joints and pick it out with a razor blade after it cures

I'm just cringing reading this... I have enough problems with regular etex and trying to get it out of the joints? No thank you

Location: WI		I have done a number of swim baits. I have used spray clearcoat on them. It works ok by doing a number of thin coats with the baits joints in different positions. Then coating the rest of the bait in normal layers of spray clear.

As many of you know I do about 700 baits a year. Swim baits are my least favorite and I actually won't take them anymore. I personally wouldn't even attempt epoxy on them.

just an idea what about using vasoline over the hinges an using etex if it get over the hinges it will be atleast on the outside an not get inbetween where the pin goes down thru
