Location: Oconomowoc, WI | I wasn't sure if I should write this, but here it goes. I haven't musky fished much, but last year I accidentally caught a 40" on some light tackle. Since then, I have become obsessed and am looking to chase musky much more this year. I have read as many books as I can this off-season. I have bought almost every musky hunter and esox angler magazine ever published. I have stocked up on tackle and lures this off season as well. I joined my local chapter of muskies inc. I feel I am ready to go(as ready as I can be). I also have a buddy from work who has never fished muskies before who is on board with me. I am looking for any tips for fishing in the lake Tomahawk area/onieda co. wisconsin, as we will be fishing mostly from there. We are looking for action only, not trying for that 50". I know this website has many knowledgeable fisherman. Any advice would help. We made a list of 10 lakes that are small and rated A2 per the DNR for action, but have never fished any of them. Just looking to get into it this year. don't feel like you have to give any secrets, but if you could help I would be thrilled. Our first trip should be mid June. Thanks for any input!!!!! I will keep you posted.

Location: Grand Marais, MN | Have you tried Oconomowoc, seeing as you are from there? I go out there with friends to kayak several times a year and there is a lot of great musky type structure. |

you'll be in my stompin' grounds, so if there are any particulars you are looking for help on shoot me a pm. always good advice found when you stop into Rollie and Helens Musky Shop ... run by good people and they are usually pretty tuned in to what's happening in the local area and willing to help point you in the right direction. |

I would also recommend either Jeff Van Remortel at WDH guide service, or Ben Michlig of Northwoods Way guide service... both guys put tons of fish in the boat every summer, and they are very knowledgable. They can give you a ton of advice, and their rates are worth every penny! |

| I went out with Jeff last year, didnt boat anything but learned a lot and got some new spots. Still worth every penny, Im sure Ill spend a day with him this summer. |

| My suggestion would be to spend as much time on the water as possible with more experienced musky anglers, and as many as possible. The books and magazines and articles and all of that are a great resource, but being out there with someone who has been doing this a while will be huge for you. Don't get caught up in needing this and that lure or this or that rod and reel. Get out there and fish. |
