Just got my boat set up for trolling, kinda new to this, and wanted some input on how everybody sets there drags while trolling? Thanks!

Loose, I set mine to where the bait does not pull line.

I think it all depends on the Rods/Reels and Line you are using. If you set the drag to loose it will sometimes allow fish to get off due to poor hook penetration. If using Mono and longer and medium heavy rods they will both act like a shock absorber and flex much more than using a stiffer shorter rod with a reel that has 80 or 100 Lb braid spooled on it where there will be a No stretch much faster Hook Set.... I myself prefer a 7'6" to 8' foot med/Heavy or a Heavy with a lighter tip rod with a good name brand reel that has a loud (clicker) line out alarm with a good brand of 80-100 lb braided line. I set the Drag where it is Tight but could still grab it and give it a good hard pull and line will come off the reel.....It is very important to get to the rod as soon as you here the clicker, I've found out that this way the second hook set is rarely necessary.. When the drag is set tight, and the rod is heavier, when you hear that reel screaming You can pretty much guarantee a good solid Hook Set....But I'm sure others have their own way......

I set my drags similar to whats been stated only difference is I troll 50 lb. braid on my smaller baits. My drag settings depends on the baits being trolled. If the hooks are thin and light I adjust the setting accordingly. Some of my early season baits are 3/4 oz. used on a flipping stick bass rod. Good Luck!

Big hooks slow speed = tight drag. Small hooks high speed = loose drag.
