Last I heard they didn't have anyone to do the swap meet. I'm hoping someone takes care of it. Would love to do it but I just don't have time with having a booth there

MuskieFIRST is not running a swap this year, and I have not heard anything about one yet. We may be there one day to cover the show. It looks like another great show this year!

It's no big production,,,somebody who lives in the area call a bar or the one it was at last year "the lodge" and tell them your bringing a bunch of fisherman to fill up a room who like to eat and drink ,,it isn't gonna be a tough sell!!! It doesn't have to an official this or that sponsored something. Just a local phone call,,in fact the local biz's outta be fighting for this. Put the word out in the area you may even get a a sweet offer

Seriously considering the 3 hour drive for this if there's a swap..I'm very hopeful it happens! Expo, beer, and swap...can't be better.

It wasn't real easy last year, the place we had the swap wanted some sort of guarantee that the bar would be profitable and we had to 'rent' the rooms if I remember correctly, we needed two rooms for the size of the swap. The year before, the bar we were in was far too crowded, and the regulars complained enough to keep us out the next year. Year before that we sorta had a party at the show in a big room, for some reason that was out too.

This is a great show. It has quite a few vendors that you won't see anywhere else. Lots of nice custom stuff.

Never been to the MNshow but I think it's a great show with different stuff than Chicago and Millwaukee

Really hope someone can get a swap together

Hey Steve, was the swap on Friday night normally?

Saturday night, as Steve said it was in two rooms. It would be great if someone local could set this up. I didn't swap anything but I was a buyer, and found some good quality lures that I couldn't leave laying on the table. A couple of them were like reaching for the last piece of chicken on the platter with 9 brothers and sisters sitting at the table. It was fun!

I wouldn't mind driving a short distance from the show.....

Re. Milwaukee this year - it was very clear that no carry-ins were allowed, I didn't see anyone who was not having a good time or was lacking a libation. Yeah, they were checking the room periodically for compliance.

The Minnesota show is bigger but don't think of this has an either or deal,,,I go to the CHicago show every year, the milwaukee show about every other year and I. Live in MInneapolis and work for Paul at the MInnesota Georges muskie expo. The Wausau show breaks the mold it's not has big has those three but you see some different vendors from that area in fact my best metro lakes bucktail is one that's only at this show. And you get to see some different new speakers I Go to more seminars here then any other show because it's got some new guys with fresh new info. The patriot center is THEE most perfect venue I've ever been to. Guys at the show sometimes get here on Thursday and never start their vehicles again till Sunday close. Every thing is right within a couple blocks, about 4 hotels a big shopping center with grocery store and liquor, culvers a Chinese buffet hmmmm my favorite,a couple of nice bars, the holiday inn is actually connected to the patriot center by walkway if you really want a convenient place to stay. A bunch of us come from the twin cities and it's a fast easy route I Think we go 94 and hang a left at Chippewa falls and it's straight north to the exit. It dosentl list where your from in your profile otherwise if I knew you were from the metro I'd say hop in with us.

Has far has a place for Swap meet some one might try calling the Holliday inn and see if they have a room or is there some kind of community message board where you could post a request. The Wausau community seemed to really embrace this show we couldn't believe that it was the lead story on the local 10 o clock news. So ImSure someplace would love to host this.

Hooker you got everything right except the direction. If you're coming from the cities you're probably exiting at Hwy 29 then straight to Wausau. Just that you'd be doing east instead of north.

I'm local but not in the way you might think.
Seriously tho, one would think a local bar or hotel with a liquor license would be more than willing to host a solid group of humble, gassy, parched folks that have the general tendency to keep one another in check anyway.
The house would definitely be happy, especially if a server took a turn through the room(s) every so often.
Who wants to take the initiative?!?!??

How many tables are usually at the swap meet? lake wausau association might be interested in organizing something like this yearly since they were looking for funding and I think they have held events at gullivers before. Trails end bar would possibly be another option.

Wausau gun show would work well if the upper room isn't used, $5 to get in and I believe they charge for tables tho.

Alright beefcake way to take the inititive!!!! Gotta have beer and food and the closer to the show the better, use your best judgement.

Did anybody try calling "the lodge" to see if they were at all interested ? I bring it up because it's so close to the show
