| I will be retiring this summer and want to book a fishing trip ... without any concerns for cost or location. I will be bringing my wife so food and accommodations must be above average. I would focus on musky but would mix it up fishing for walleye, small mouth etc. I would want an opportunity for a trophy (50+" ) but not at the expense of decent numbers. I am open to bringing my boat or renting. What places would you all recommend. |

Great staff, great food, great accommodations, and good opportunities for all species of fish. While we've not caught great numbers of muskies on a day to day basis, we have not had one trip yet where we didn't have a crack at a 50"+ fish.
Eagle lake can be tough. We've gone several days without even seeing a fish, but at some point in the trip they always seem to show up, and when they show up they're all over the place. There's always at least one day of the week where all we say all day is "Oh my GOD, there's another one!" Our best day was 6 in the boat up to 47" with 3 in the boat in 4 casts. Best day for moving fish started around 11:00 am, and by 3:00 we had last count at around 24 fish.

| check out Wiley Point Lodge, Great area of LOTW. You can't beat lotw in Ontario for numbers with a chance at a giant. |

| I would go to Lake Vermilion for a week and hire Luke Ronnestrand for every day. Although my body would take weeks to recover from it. |

Location: Minnesota | I love musky fishing but think outside the box I went to Alaska 10 years ago it was a blast fishing was unbelievable then the scenery was assume. I can't Waite to get back there |

Location: Washington, PA | Aml on eagle or sabaskong bay. Never been to rowan. Would certainly not recommend Wabigoon or Lsc for a retirement trip with the wife.

Location: Washington, PA | Im going to go out on a limb here and say they don't jump in the boat all that often. There are some giants in wabigoon, but retirement trip with the wife doesnt scream lets go fish muddy water and smell the paper mill while casting the golf course to me.
Neither does fishing the washing machine that is lake st clair, and staying in peaceful detroit.... |

The Wabigoon river up stream of the Narrows runs into Dinorwic Lake. the Wabigoon river runs though Dinorwic LAKE , into Wabigoon lake at the narrows. We found good water as far as Musky Bay and Green Island. As for the paper mill we didn't have any smell on the east end of the lake. Muskies don't jump in the boat all that often, I have only had it happen 4 times in 50 years of fishing for them. One time a 40"er landed in my open tackle box full of baits. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Four choices I'd suggest. Lake of the Woods Minnesota offers tremendous fishing with big fish. Rowan Lake with a visit to Don, and bucket list trip. Andy Myers Lodge, great fishing for walleyes, bass, pike, and big muskies and superb hospitality. Spring Bay Resort on Vermilion. BIG bass, crappies, bluegills, good pike fishing, and big muskies, again with superb hospitality. |

Congrats on the milestone!! Also the ability to chase them for a week or longer...desire alone doesn't get that done! I must also say a tip of the hat for wanting to take the wife along on this trip. When I retire and my wife looks the other direction I am going to be on the road to somewhere....anywhere fishy! Ha Ha
Here's hoping the trip exceeds any and all expectations. A report back on where and what you ended up on would be good to read! |
