The foil used on this plug was a semi-transparent blue over a white paint base. The foil can look off white, blue, or gold depending on angle. Unfortunately the gold doesn't photograph well - it just looks like a bright blur.

Great work! Are these Jakes being redone or are you getting blanks? Where are you getting them? I'm looking for 14"ers.

These lures are done using 10" blanks I found on ebay by doing a search for "Jake lure blanks." Only 10" is available and they are not "true" Jake blanks as sold on the Drifter Tackle site. The price is right though, around $5.50/blank in quantities of 9. Since I don't sell lures keeping my overall hobby costs down is important to me. Most people are satisfied with the plug action, others are not.

Thanks for the reply, GL. I used those this year as well and am very please with how they performed. I wish he could get the larger sized lures that would be a great deal. Oh well.

I checked the Drifter Tackle site, 14" Jake blanks are available but they want something like $31 each for them. Plus shipping. Ouch!

Too bad there's no lips there, Musker. I'd take some of those big ones. Unless you know where to get lips for them, nothing I can do with them.
