Hey guys, I recently got a new heavy rod for throwing plastics like regular sized bull dawgs, medussas, mid medussas, and Bondy Royal Orba jr, etc. What kinda of reel would you guys suggest? And for gear ratio as well? Would a reel around a 5:1 ratio be best, or something faster? Thanks a lot for the help!

Faster is better for taking up slack line after rips

Id suggest 7:1, 5:1 is way to slow to pick up slack. I have used the lexa 7:1 for the last 3 years and it has been amazing. I was using a 5.4:1 before that and missed a few that I conclude was too much slack.

speed is necessary get a 400 tranx HG 40 ipt you will love it...Id want 32IPT min on rubber set up...Ideally you want 37-40IPT myself if moving rubber...If you don't want to spend that get a Lexa Winn 32 ipt or Lexa xsp 37 ipt
