Location: Northern Illinois | What are you typical rod and reel combos that you use?
Just bought a Toro Beast and pairing it with a TI 9 foot XXH for big blades and rubber.
What combo's are good. I have Shimano 300 EJ sitting on the shelf what rod would be good for that? |

Location: Ashland WI | Not an easy question to answer unless we know what you like to throw. Even then, it's still a lot of personal preference.
If you have the opportunity to try some out, do so. That would probably be the most helpful. |

Location: Madison, WI | Since you have a big blade/rubber rod, I would put that EJ on something like a 8’6” MH for small bucktails, twitch baits, and topwaters. |

Location: Northern Illinois | That's what I was thinking. Put EJ on MH 8'6 and throw smaller blades and top water. Perfect That's the plan.
What are some decent priced rod options? I have 3 TI rods but they run about 180$ each. I was interested in the bulldog rods for 99$ Anyone have experience with them? |

| My go-to's...
8' heavy for smaller/medium sized bucktails, crankbaits, gliders, plastics, etc...
8'6" extra heavy rod for larger bucktails, crankbaits, heavy plastics, etc...
Usually rock a size 400 reel with a gear ratio in the 5's on both.
Of course there are better combo's for some lures... but, this is a good, standard line-up for me.
An 8'6" heavy action rod would be great for your size 300 Curado, imo. Would be great for medium-sized crankbaits, gliders, spinnerbaits, bucktails, plastics, and topwater prop baits you might find the XXH too heavy for.

Location: Northern Illinois | I ordered a Ti 8'6 MH for my 300EJ! hopefully that works out good we will see. I have beast 60 low speed on Ti 9ft XXH and currently ordering Beast 60HS with same Ti 9ft XXH. I will check cabelas for there line of muskie rods thanks for the tips and info! |

I just caught one on sale at Cabelas for $104 and bought the 8 MH 2 piece IM8 blank rated to 4 oz weighted baits and paired it with a Abu Toro S-50. Those Predator Cabelas Musky are made by Gary Loomis and are made in Korea or in the Far East someplace. Nice Rod and nice handle. |

St Croix Top/Tails with an S60 with a Beast unbalanced power handle smaller tails and cranks and surface
St Croix MH premiere with a Abu Garcia NaLc 5:4:1 for spinner baits, small tails, smaller cranks with a wider wobble
Shimano 8ft Compre Heavy/ any good round reel for jigging |

I can pretty much throw everything with those combos with the exception of gliders, which I don’t throw. |
