Posts: 9 | Ok, so I've been musky fishing practically my entire life. But, since I left for college my musky stuff has "disappeared"( thanks mom). So I had quite a substantial amount of money saved and decided to revamp my new setup. Here it is, I got a 8'6 XH premier, a 7'6 XH premier, and haven't quite decided but I'm thinking perhaps a 8'6 MHF premier as well. I have 3 reels, all Revo Toros a Beast, a Rocket, and a 60 S. I also grabbed about 12-15 baits from Bondy to Smitty. What do you guys think? Missing anything? And what reel should go on which rod? And go!

Posts: 9 | I agree, Bondy baits I usually tuck for Lake St. Claire and a couple up north(Wisconsin). I pretty much set out to have a setup for topwater/jerk bait, rubber/bucktail, and multipurpose. I figure the Rocket for topwater, the beast for rubbers and S for multi. I enjoy using the Royal Orbas just about everywhere, which is a Bondy. But, my main concern is, am I missing something or overlooking something. I actually am very new to the low-profile baitcasters. I'm 6'4 200 lbs and always used the big baitcasters(Calcutta, beast-am. series, etc.) I got some fall trips planned and just figured I'd share my arsenal and see what you guys thought!

Posts: 9 | Does the rocket burn well? I mean, I watched some videos and everybody kept bringing up top water and gliders w/ the rocket. Personally I thought the S would be good for the top water. And put the rocket on a stict bucktail rod. Again, I apologize for my ignorance on the matter.

Posts: 9 | Rubber baits usually consist of Royal Orbas, Magnum Bulldawgs, etc. I rarely throw pounders.

Posts: 9 | Haha! I personally have produced fish on all bulldawgs, mags are my favorite. I do throw pounders as well. Just not as often.

What has your experience been in relation to the size of fish you have caught on Pounders compared to the size of fish you have caught on 2 Pounders?

Posts: 9 | Well, I'll tell you what. Outside of late fall, I see more steady action from a magnum than the double. Late fall I throw larger and fish slower. to each their own haha. I definitely will need anew "pounder" rod. But, right now it didn't make the cut. I've come in contact w/ sizable fish w/ or w/o the pounder on the end of my leader. Haven't you?

My question was in regards to your experience in the size of fish you catch on a Pounder dawg compared to a 2 Pounder dawg. Have you noticed a big difference from the large Pounder to the giant 2 Pounder?

Posts: 9 | Tbh, I throw POUNDERS. Not 2 pounders! lol my buddy trolls them but never casted them(2 pounders). What's your experience? What rod would you need to acquire that can toss em? I know MI makes a pretty hefty rod.

Posts: 253 | I have a lower gear revo toro beast but thats because i also cast 16 inch line thru trputs, so the lower gear allows fpr a slow steady retrive that works with those swimbaits

Ok, I assumed when you said that you have personally produced fish on all Bulldawgs that you were including the 2 Pounder. My experience has been that the 2 Pounder produces significantly larger fish than the Pounder or the Magnum on average.
