Location: West Virginia | How often does everyone replace braid? With mono, I always changed it every year, at least once, but I don't know if braid lasts longer. |

| Braid can last longer than mono if you take care of it. My freind who is a bass fisherman liks to condition his and he gets alot of time out of it.. I however prefer to change it after every season. |

| I swap ends on it every year, so I replace it every 2 seasons.

Location: West Virginia | Thanks guys. I had several issues yesterday with breakage on my braid hanging in rocks and stumps and that normally doesnt happen. It is at least 2 years old, so I just think it may be time to change it. |

Location: Contrarian Island | I have reels with braid that is easily 5 yrs old... I take off a few feet is about it every year and replace rarely ..it lasts a long time if it isn't frayed |

| I'll flip the line when it starts to look fuzzy and replace it every couple years, usually towards the end of the season. Fresh line picks up a lot less water, so it's nice to not have to deal with as much spray in November. One thing I do, like others have mentioned is cut off a foot or two here and there, especially when fishing a lot of rocks/timber. |

Location: Almond, WI | 2-3 years. Flip ends every other year. Most the wear is towards the end of the line so once in a while I'll cut 1-5 yards off the end if it's fuzzy/frayed. |

Location: Walker, MN | I fill my spools up and flip around half-way through the season on my primary reels. Some of my back-ups go 1-1/2 yrs. I really like to re-spool or flip in late fall when the temps get to freezing, newer line seems to pick up less water to freeze. You could probably get quite a few more seasons out of braid but I lose confidence in older line when the big fish start showing up. |

| Wow, I can't believe guys are going this long without changing out their line. I'm very particular when it comes to my gear so maybe I'm being over catious, but I flip mine half way through the season and change everything out at the beginning of the next season. I dunno....maybe I fish more than others on here but I'm sure Nelsons's on the water more than I am. But I buy line in bulk and that lasts me 2-3 yrs until I find the next sale. |

Location: The desert | If you're not in heavy timber or a ton of rocks you can make it last a good long time. Some depends on the line you're using as well. I was dissapointed in my last spool of tuff line XP, it was looking pretty fuzzy by the end of one season. I've had better luck with cortland masterbraid/bronze back or spiderwire stealth. On a few of my back up reels I'm still running stuff I've had on since college. I still trust it just fine. |

Location: Wisconsin | I replace mine when the spool starts getting low from retying more than anything. Then again, I don't go as often as many on this forum do. If fishing a lot of rocks and timber, I might replace it more often too. For the primarily open water fishing I do, not so often. Sometimes, I just like to try a different brand too. I think it really comes down to where and how often a person goes. Eighty and 100 lb braid is stupid tough. If in doubt, change it. Tom |

| I am going to have to start replacing my braided line more often. My first fish of 2016 was delayed about 2 weeks because my braided line broke on a fish at the first of January. I usually flip my braided line and replace it once per year, but, our musky season lasts all year long. So, I may start replacing it twice per year.

| I flip at the beginning or end of a season... I put in over 115 days on the water last year. I'll be rspooling this year. I use a ton of backing on my reels which helps keep the cost down. Usually I will fill the spool at least half full of 20 lb mono and secure the braid to that with a uni to uni knot. |

75 days on the water isn't all that much, if you're switching the game up between 2-3 rods/reels. Putting new line on after that amount of time isn't to be ridiculed, though not something that would be necessary. |

I am with Brad. A few feet of at the beginning of the season. It only gets replaced once my spool is getting low and I start casting into the backing. Or gets replaced when I get sick of using a particular brand and want to switch it up. |

To each their own, but when my line starts getting fuzzy, it gets flipped; and that's usually around August. By late October when I make my 12 day trip to LOTW, it's fuzzy again so I put new line on. Doesn't matter if it's PP, 832, Materbraid, XP....it's been the same with each line.
