Thats whats that plug is for!!! It was the only piece left over and I scratched my head over that one. I must have missed the yellow slip somewhere.

Yes it is very strange. Obviously it was an afterthought and too expensive to amend the original parts list and instructions.

I adjusted the transducer and now the side imaging and down imaging work great. I am certain that I was able to catch more fish on Saturday because of this technology in my boat. It's paying off.

Had mine out a couple times this weekend and played with them a little. First thoughts; the screen is too small for the SI to be seen easily. This, however, I knew coming in to buying it, as should anyone else buying one. Other than the small screen it worked really well for me. I saw a couple really big fish on the side imaging when I was using it. The DI I didn't use much, as I suspected I wouldn't. The color sonar was clear and easy to adjust to your liking. I'm having trouble getting the SI out past 70 feet, but I haven't researched it yet so that could be common? The controls are relatively intuitive after a bit of practice, had no problem changing things on the fly. I will still end up buying a larger unit sometime, but the Helix will still be in the boat along side it. I'll be out this weekend again with it actually muskie fishing, we'll see how it works in a lake with lots of structure and trees.

For those that have this, how detailed is the "base map" that comes with it? Functional at all? Or would I be looking at another $150 for a chip?

It looks as though a helix 7 series has been released

The base map stinks for all the lakes I fish. I bought the Lakemaster Minnesota PLUS chip for $123 and I really like it, but can't compare it to any other chips for you.

Look on Amazon to get chips for about $25 under store prices.
