Hey guys,

I have had 4 or 5 I-Pilots and have really liked them. The latest version deploys so easy and works great!

I am looking at an Esox Mag with an MinnKota Fortrex 80. I'm concerned I wont like it. Seller claims he likes the quick response of the Fortrex, and that the Terrova is slow to turn/spin.

can anyone comment on how the two compare? The Fortrex foot pedal seems so high compared to the sleek pedal of the Terrova.

Any imput would be awesome.

This Fortrex was new a year ago.

I ran a 101 fortrex for 4 years. It is a bullet proof motor. I recently got a new rig and put a terrova on it. I love it. I have a bad back and the ability to stand on 2 feet as opposed to one is a big help. I think its a matter of prefrence. Dont think you can go with either. I prefer the terrova as it also has some nice features that i found pretty useful. I personally wont go back to a cable drive. Guess its a matter of what works for you.

Try it, and switch it out if you don't like it, that Fortrex will sell for a pretty big chunk of a terrova price

That's kind of what I was thinking of doing.

Not that I'm aware of. I"ve got Maxxum cable drive and you can't leave it on constant thrust without keeping your foot on the pedal as the motor head with move.

In a more open water areas the Terrova is really nice with all of its features, however a cable drive unit is far superior when "bass" style fishing such as going in and out of narrow areas like around piers and such.

I tried the Fortrex today. I will be buying a new Terrova.

Anyone know of a place that would have one on hand, and be willing to install it for me in the Minaqua area Sunday or Monday?

I'll be casting some hardware up there tomorrow and Monday.

Thanks

Congratulations. You're going to love the Terrova. I especially like the spotlock feature. Even while walleye fishing on very windy days I never use an anchor.

Oh, I've had em (Terrovas) before.

Had one on my 2014 Lund Impact 1875, 2013 Ranger 1760 Angler, 2011 Alumacraft Nav 165T, etc.

I bought this Tuffy esox mag used (2013), not knowing how I'd like it......well, I REALLY like the Esox mag a lot, so I put the right TM on it. LOL

Did you get the BRAND new ipilot? With the auto deploy? and spot lock right on the pedal? If so how does that auto deploy/retract work its such a slick new feature. I wish I had that on my 618T I would just stay in the back of the boat, missed it by 6 months. they shouldn't be allowed to release new products to the public in the summer. winter time only

I didn't get the auto deploy. The "old" one works good enough and Im ok giving the new one some time to make sure its solid.

My gutt isn't THAT big yet, I can still bend down......lol
