This is not correct. Who was the landing attendant working for?

I see this as an attempt to raise awareness and don't see it as them trying to control us at all. I'm betting the on line course is really easy. Some people could care less about the spread of invasive species in Minnesota, this thread all but proves it.

Hiya,

Definitely not against something like this, but it would be nice to do this at a time you have to relic ensue your boat. It is every 3 years, so put the fee with the license and complete the process there. Then both the boat and trailer are done at the same time..

Education is the key... Then putting it into practice becomes second nature... Just like pulling your plug on the boat when you leave.

You should check out the drama on Fishing Minnesota and other forums that are playing out right now. The masses are becoming aware of this new requirement because of the MN DNR booth at the State Fair.

Because someone disagrees with this new sticker requirement it doesn't imply that they don't care about our lakes or AIS.

Personally, I think this sticker is silly. The people that truly care about our waters are already doing what they can to prevent AIS. These new efforts are aimed at the rest of the people who may not ever do anything to prevent the spread of AIS no matter what the fine is or how much education there is. The conscientious people out there aren't the problem but they will be asked to jump through yet another hoop because of the others who could care less.

Mike - have you seen the I-LIDS in use at any access yet? If so, what is your impression? I am working with a couple of lake associations that want to put them in.

I have not seen one in person, but I work with the Otter Tail county AIS task force and they out a couple up on Ottertail lake. So I have a good amount of info on them and could very easily go see one as well.

If you want more info, shoot me a PM and I'll get you my work contact number and email. I can put you in touch with the folks that are using the one in otter tail. They've done a lot if work with it trying to get it running how they wanted.

Small price to pay to have your boat washed by the DNR cabana boy at the public landings. All jokes aside, seeing more and more portable wash stations. Wisconsin will probably follow to defer costs of the new ramp cameras. This way at least it's coming out of everyone's pocket with a trailer and not just the fisherman's license fees.

It was in hubbard county and as far as i know they are paid via the county not the dnr itself - locals with a special vest on really... I have talked to them from time to time nice enough but some of the views that they have are that of a typical lakeshore owner point the finger and limit access its sad really... I asked one how milfoil got in tiny ponds near my house if the "lake hoppers" responsible never could haveput their boats in them??? no response hehehe

I wipe down my boat every time i load up keeps it looking nice and less chance of missing any sneaky weeds

If you encounter this again, please let me know. I am the one who trained their staff and yes sometimes they share opinions that I'd prefer they not share.

The same goes for anyone. If you have issues with any inspector (DNR, County, lake association volunteer) I encourage you to call myself or the regional watercraft inspection supervisor. If you don't know who that is, get in touch with me and I will make sure it is dealt with.
