I think this is a solid move because Ranger high-end quality is lacking on the FS series.

should be interesting..the name is a bit odd but hope they come out with some Deep Vs and not at the 70k price point.

All explained in the release.

Seems like a number of these folks were Ranger employees. Actual launch is about 100 days, there's a counter on the website.

The name is curious. Typically, we do not wish to be "vexed". But then boats can be very frustrating, so maybe it is perfect.

It would be interesting to have 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 rigs sitting side-by-each, so a person could compare them. I wonder if the quality has changed since that model came out in 2015?

Yeah, maybe it was partially due to the redesign in 2015, but the entire FS series has the easily scratched and cheap feel with an abundance of plastic surrounding the helm. I understand why they went to the flat gunnels for track systems, but they didn't have to make those 90 degree sharp edged corners, especially on inside where they're not as comfortable to lean against and easily chipped. I'm not making this into a gripe session, because I still think Ranger makes a good product, it's just not as good as it used to be IMHO.

Haha, 70k I think you're dreaming Brad...

"From original design and engineering to hand-building total performance machines of exceptional quality, we're looking forward to sharing a full line of products that complement the confidence and expectations of today's anglers." Reinforcing that statement, the company confirmed that each model will include a broad array of customizable choices related to outboards, electronics, and other features.

The 2100 takes several 9 footers. New website on the way this Winter.

Snip...

I will have to ask the Ranger people here in town if there have been any alterations to the 2018 units. The dealer meeting is next week, I think? Maybe there have been some improvements to address some of the things you mentioned Jerry.

Or white river/Johnny Morris, vexed them aka vex us!? We will show you. There are several comments about the name by the owners and more or less they are saying that is for a later time

boy I have not found this to be true.

i own a 2017 (built this May) 621fs with 350 vrod.

i owned a 2015 620vs before that.

i owned a 2012 619vs before that.

i would agree that the finish MAY be easier to scratch vs my 2012. Not positive. But possibly less thick clear coat.

i would agree some of the plastic attached to the consoles is a bit cheap feeling for the price of the boat.

However, everything else on my 621fs is a big improvement over my 620vs. the square corners have not been an issue at all. I actually prefer them. so many upgrades. things like the latches on the compartments are better. the compartments are more water tight. the 4th battery now in center bottom which frees up a compartment. the charge in the same. plug out back of boat to charge. side rod holders. wider inside floor. bigger gas tank. better inside lights. better switches. better floor covering. better storage space. now it takes more hp to getty up and go vs the vs but when I am on Lac Seul, GB, Eagle, Devils, or even the larger lakes around me (Fence, Trout) I can definitely tell the ride is better when the wind picks up. A lot of that is probably 621 vs 620 but the topcap is taller also. I hit 65mph empty which shocked me in such a big boat.

i read all the ranger bashing and was pretty hesitant to move to the fs but I can say unequivocally other than the items above it is a huge upgrade over my 620vs. And the trailer step and ulterra have also been very big upgrades. i am very happy with my new fs. and after running hard for a season I am glad I upgraded. Often have 3 fishing and plenty of room and very stable.

BTW - I fit several 9' rods in by boat no problems.

It would be hard not to be impressed with the performance and room difference between a 621 and a 620 on big water, and agree the FS is better over-all than the VS in terms of performance. The new 621FS is longer, deeper and wider than my old 621VS, and they have added some very nice interior upgrade features like you mentioned. Again, I don't want to make this into a gripe session as I was just pointing out that the FS feels like it was somewhat slapped together while the earlier VS had more of a hand built top-of-the-line look and feel. It was with some of the details in the overall construction where I noticed some quality differences… you learn a lot when you disassemble/reassemble while rigging.

One of the last things I did before putting the FS in storage was fix the plastic dash gauge surround that had every screw stripped/loose from the factory because the plastic shell is simply too thin for the job. I had to fold a piece of aluminum over the edge of the holes in the plastic just to get the dash gauge screws secure. Getting back to the plastic cockpit area; it not only looks cheap, I bet the painted plastic will discolor and get beat up looking after some time on the water.

Otherwise there were four or five different interior panels on my boat that had screws that missed their mark and were simply screwed into air, and although the little plastic dash cubbyhole is handy, the plastic edges are sharp to the touch… shouldn't have this stuff on a top-of-the-line boat.

What about that bizarre almost non-functioning FS glove box? I bet the new Vexus will have a better design and the old Ranger quailty… but then again, how could it not.

dont disagree. plastic on consoles feel lower quality. And the sharp edges are poorly designed.

but overall would take my fs over late model vs in a heartbeat.
