Hey Guys

Just an update on my boat now that I got a bunch of hours on her. sorry I still haven't truly opened up trimming her out for top end but I am seeing 58 with a loaded boat. can probably get another one or two out of her. I love the Verado and love the boat. I should have taken a picture of the storage area but I put one of these racks in the bottom and have all my musky boxes in there. It works great.

The Ulterra is great although I am having trouble with the tranducer. new one on order. with the 36 volt system, i never run out of power. I am getting the hang of the Helix units. Only a couple minor issues I told Lund about: 1. The ski pole pedestal is lame as I would rather be able to put the seat in the middle. the ski pole should be the option - not the standard. 2. They do not have locks on all the storage areas - only a few. I spend this much on a boat and Lund tries to save a few bucks but not supplying locks on every area. Now I have to get it done after. 3. Hour meter for the motor would be nice. Other than that, it is awesome. Can't wait for Ontario chasing skis in a month. Jeff

That's a great idea Jeff! I may try that as well. I'm super happy with my boat too. Of course with the 150hp, I'm not getting those speeds, but I'm more than satisfied. I've had it out 6 days now. Even with all my gear and two guys, I broke 45mph the other day. That's plenty for me. It doesn't seem to suck gas too bad either. It's a beautiful smooth ride. The 36volt Ulterra has been amazing. I'm still learning how to use all the electronics, but the follow the contour blows me away. The spotlock is great too. As Jeff mentioned, the storage locks are really my only issue. Beyond the fact that they should have them on all compartments. They are really easy to pop up just by hand. I'm amazed Lund sells such amazing boats, but can't redesign a decent lock.

I'll be taking it to LOTW in September! I'm used to renting resort boats so this will be really awesome.

That's pretty much every fishing boat on the market. Boat companies don't usually design hardware, they buy the stuff from OEM vendors. All the lock does is keep out honest folk, a small pry bar or a center punch and little hammer will get you instant access to any storage compartment on almost any ride.

Yeah I was happy that my new boat had locks... Now only after owning it I see how easy it would be to gain access. However Sarasota electronic locks should require a persons to destroy the lid to get in. But it's a 1200 dollar option for me.

This is something I have wrestled with recently. I like the idea of the Lock R Bar but it wouldn't work well with my X-190 and I don't think it would work well with a Lund. The lid locks are just to discourage someone from stealing. I view them as giving me piece of mind when I run into a store while on a trip with the boat attached.

For overnight parking in a hotel or fishing lodge, I cover the boat and put 2 motion detector alarms on the front deck. If someone lifts my cover and starts messing around the alarm will go off in my room. I got both alarms for under $35 at Harbor Freight. I know it is not perfect but it stops me from worrying and lets me sleep well.

attached are pix showing the lure storage system I put in the forward compartment. Need to label the boxes but you get the idea. also a couple pix of the way I finally got my cover to work. The directions and design Lund gave for the cover is lame. Three stand alone poles with only two straps off each pole. so the poles keep falling over under the cover. So I went out and spent $20 and got 30 feet of 1.5 inch Velcro hooks one side, loops the other. Then I just ran a strip from pole to pole to pole. Adjust bow pole so straps are farther forward. adjust stern straps so they are aft of the stern pole. Middle pole straps are in line. Now easy to put cover on and poles never fall over.

Thanks Jeff!

This is a great idea. I too did the same thing today except instead of using velcro straps, I bought a few short tie straps with hooks on each end. It makes a huge difference. I plan to test it this weekend.
