| Hey all,
Looking into getting one of these babies this year. I have been reading that the 899 comes with a different transducer than the 999 and you can swap the unused 899's 'ducer for the 999's via Humminbird for a fee.
Here's the question:
Does the lower end 'ducer really make all that much of a difference and is it worth the bother or added expense of a 999?
I can afford the 899 right now (on my secret stash of "Muskie Money") but I'd have to wait on the 999 and I don't want to wait for Humminbird to swap them out and mail it back.
Any input from anyone who has seen a difference or done the swap?
All comments or info appreciated,

Location: SE WISCONSIN | Randal. check out universal maina.com this is where I got all of my humminbirds they have very good prices and I think there is a $200 rebate on the 999 right now. I think the upgrade to the HDSI transducer is worth it your images will be sharper and it will give you the option to scan in 800 khz witch will give you better detail of the bottom .
The transducer swap is not free there is a charge.

| I have the 899 with the transducer upgrade. I think it's worthwhile as I want the most detIl possible. That's the whole point of SI. To see structure and possibly fish clearly. What's an extr 75$ if u r spending a thousand plus. I think the 899 is big enough too btw cause width is the most important in side imaging and it's very close to the 999. Having said that I would have the 1199 or HDS 12 if I was made of money. Lol. |
