With all the press about the declining musky population at Lake Webster....will there still be a 2017 tournament?

The same is true with my lake. (Muskellunge near Eagle River) The musky population has declined to the point it's totally not worth the trouble to use the terrible boat ramp, where hooligans break the windows in your truck while your fishing. I'm stuck there because the big fish-kill ruined all the property values and I can't sell it while the news is still so fresh. So, I may be out there once in a while, but I'll be just driving around looking for a place where the dead fish smell isn't as bad as it is at my place. So, I won't be fishing if you see me....just driving!

Yes, there is a 2017 Indiana Musky Classic...preparations are well underway, and this year promises to be another fantastic event put on by the Hoosier Muskie Hunters (Chapter 42).

You can download a more information/registration flyer at https://www.facebook.com/HoosierMuskieHunters/ or https://www.facebook.com/groups/IndianaMuskieClassic/

The tournament lakes are Webster, Barbee, and Tippe; these are still the crown jewels of Indiana musky fishing and offer great opportunities. The Indiana DNR has taken steps to address population density at Webster through continued stocking with the addition of overwintered fish stocking. The Goshen News has an article that speaks to this:

http://www.goshennews.com/news/local_news/dnr-stocks-larger-muskies...

Webster continues to be the brood source lake for stocking all the other Indiana muskie lakes, so there is that too. Indiana musky fishing looks to be in great shape for years to come.

Alive and well keeps getting bigger and better each year, and best of all raises money to go to the Indiana Muskie Program.
