Been a little quiet in camp with respect to muskie hunters, but we will start to get some this weekend and then have people around chasing fall fatties the rest of the month.

Water temps open at 58 or so with a cool down starting tomorrow in the forecast. Long range temps/conditions are on the not-so-pleasant side at the moment so we should see a steady decline...gradual would be preferred, but Mother Nature has shown us who is boss this past season multiple times.

Been some trolling action already with one boat boating a couple last Saturday (41, 47) trolling cranks. Casting will be productive as well. A combination of the two might be your best bet to contact as many fish as possible. Typically fall fish start tighter to structure, with inside rods getting popped on trolling runs a lot more often early, before it starts to even out. This makes throwing some baits up tighter to shoreline and points that are prime fish holding structures worthwhile.

Falls walleyes have been in their usual spots so we hope to see the usual locations fill up with bait as the fall progresses. We have higher water than we have been used to the last 2-3 years...the last time we had a higher water fall, it was a banner bite almost all the way to quitting time. Expectations are high, as always, as fall begins. All we can do is get baits in the water and see how it plays out.

I will be able to get back on the water after the weekend of Oct 12 and start the fall troll-a-rama. Hope to do more fishing than working for a month when I get started.

I want to offer a big thanks to all those hunters (birds, animals) that clear out of the way and let us buzz around almost undisturbed up here on LOTW this time of year!

Good luck to all during your fall sporting activities. Be safe on the water and in the woods. Your loved ones will look forward to seeing you again when fishing and hunting seasons are over!

Cheers.

J-Man

Water temps 49.9 on the surface at the dock this morning.

Been blowing hard for 6 of last 7 days and more in the forecast.

Have just one lone boat out there fishing solo, but it has been tough to get around.

Will try and get a report from him every few days this week.

I agree with you justin, over at the angle the water temps is 49.5 with 25 to 30 mph winds with sleet. Fish are biting but,I'm fishing secondly spot cause of the winds and high waves ,hopefully it stop blowing soon. Boated 5 muskies 2 on rubber and 3 trolling but none on big trolling baits yet with 44" being the biggest.

Been some activity, but the wind has made it tough for people to get around.

Trolling and casting producing some action. A couple bruisers spotted casting...44" was the biggest caught trolling.

Water temps dropping in the shallows but still 48-50 in deeper main lake basins.

Temps in the mid 50s the next few days so hoping it will be a nice gradual decline.

Crankbaits have been the ticket..both casting shallows rocks and points as well as on the troll.

Good luck all...prime-time is coming!

A little less wind and the fish got active. Had 3 boats report 6, 5 and 4 yesterday...Another had a couple in the morning when they came in for a midday break. did not get to talk to all of our guests that trolled. temps ranging from 46-50 degrees.

Biggest that I have heard have been a couple 48s to go with some that were 45, 46 and 47 inches. All these were trolling fish.

They had some action. I believe 45 was the biggest. Did some trolling and casting. I pulled them out Monday night.

Fish have been active. Some boats doing better than others depending on the day. As many as 7 fish reported a couple times..biggest to this point have been some 48s and a 51.5.

Water temps holding at 48-50 most places. Bait fish is scattered. Most fish coming close to structure.

Most common thing is the healthy thickness of darn near everything. One of the 48s was a super tanker and the 51.5 was thick and solid all the way through to her tail.

Best is yet to come in our neighbourrhood.

Good luck all.

Fishing has been good for many boats. Water temps still holding at 48-50 with temps unseasonably warm and overnight lows well above normal for this time of year.

A few few deeper than what we normally see, but otherwise tight to structure is the key. Several biggies caught already this week with 4 from 50-52, multiple 48-49 and several from 45 to just under 48.

Mostly 9 and 10 inch baits so far, which is often the case earlier in the fall season.

Keep your lures in the water and something good will happen!

strange fall so far. warm water temps..now they are coming down a bit...46ish today. windy windy windy in the forecast. lots of different baits catching fish. nothing is like before. no pattern..much like the summer...I guess we should not be surprised. pull in varying depths and run a second pass deeper...bait has been tough to come by.

My season of fall trolling has ended. Nov 8 was the last trip for me. Water temps still 39-40 degrees but weather forecast is very unfavourable the next week. No highs above 28 degrees and lows in the mid teens. With winds blowing every day in the foreseeable future, pulling the pin is a must.

Ciscos definitely staging to spawn the last couple days we fished so it pains me to have to give up, but at some point common sense has to come through.

Boat floor got dangerously ice over yesterday and equipment was starting to get sluggish.

Good run of fall fishing again. The fishery is healthy as it has even been.

Thank you for following along this past season.

Until next year, be safe in all you do.
