A group of us are going up to Eagle Lake in 2 weeks for our annual trip. We have been at century lodge for a number of years now, but have stayed elsewhere. As usual, I CANT WAIT!!

I am just wondering if anyone has any recent reports? are the weeds coming in now after the high water levels in the spring? Are fish shallow, or relating to rocks at all? How are the bugs?

Up there about 4 weeks ago, no problem with bugs at all, did not use bug spray once.
The latest we fished was about 9:30 pm.

Will be fishing Eagle for the first time end of August. We're staying at century lodge - what's the water like in that part of the lake? I hear shallow, is it like fishing the NW angle of LOTW? Or do you hit more weeds?

shallow, dark stained water ( brownish). more fish then other parts of the lake. Tons of weeds, much more then the NW Angle. If I had to compare it to anywhere it had a LOTW look with islands and rock but Wabigoon- like slop/cabbage to fish....pretty neat down there. Has a much different feel to me then other parts of the lake. Hopefully the weeds are still nice and green, I have a feeling it fishes better down there earlier in the season

Make sure you go to the water falls, especially the first one, cast right up into the rushing water coming over the top, and to the right and left sides of it. We always catch fish in there, largest out of the falls 49 1/2. Fish the canal going in also very good. We did not catch any fish this year in the 2nd water fall, but we did hook into a real monster on a black bucktail and lost it. I have a map all marked up with spots, if you like I can take a pic of it and send it to you. Was up there about 4 weeks ago raised 42, lost 12 caught 14, and the weather was terrible for us. Got there it was 84 the next 2 days it rained and was 65. All in all still a good trip. 1 boat 2 guys.

Let us know how you do.

I have been fishing out of Century Lodge for the last 15 years. You may have seen me in Century's both at the Chicago Show. I also will be up from the 8th - 22nd. You can find us in my Crestliner or at the lodge. I will be the old fart with my 44 yr old young'n. I have had the best success with bucktails and topwater baits in both Osborn an Nivan. Had very little luck with dbl 10's. Meps Magnum is great as are most topwater baits. As all of you are saying - can't wait!

dbl 8's have been awesome for us, and Shumway flashers... pretty stoked to get there. Muskiecurt, I will see you and your son in the lodge! It will be myself, my dad, my uncle and my best friend. Good luck and see you soon.

Guest, thanks for the offer of a photo of your map. I'd love to take you up on that. I'm especially worried about rock hazards since we're taking my boat in. My email is [email protected], appreciate all the info being shared here! Thanks.

Waldo:

Randy has the most detailed map available for osbourne bay, he has marked every rock reef and he updates them annually based on water levels. You will be fine with his advise in mind!

Just got back. Fished the 3rd thru the 9th. Water temps were high 60's when we got there and warmed up to 75 by the time we left. We stayed and fished the central part of the lake. Had 7 straight days of mid 80's with blue bird skies and light winds.
Typical Eagle Lake trip. Raised lots of big fish!!!! Biggest in the boat was a fat 46 incher that was 30 lbs. Lost 5 other fish that hit right at the boat. Lots of lazy follows. Almost all fish seen came off of rocks near deep water. Cabbage looks beautiful throughout the lake. Bonus was lots of big pike. Even had a 28 and 26 inch walleye on a 12 " Jake and a Jimmy. Walleye is phenominal. 25-30 ft water off reefs with a crawler harness. If it takes more than 10 minutes to catch your shore lunch move to another spot. Overall great trip would like to have seen more wind or a front to move thru to trigger em. Drank plenty of blue and got a good tan!!!!
