Hey all,
Got an opportunity to spend a couple of days this week at Lake Webster in Indiana.

Wondering if anyone can give me some general tips or lure suggestions to shorten the learning curve for me and the kids.

Planning on evening and early morning to avoid the pleasure boating traffic.

My strategy is to work the deep weed edges with 1) big plastic, 2) jerk baits and 3) double 8's but any other suggestions would be geatly appreciated.

Water temps are in the low 70's so no worries there and we are dedicated CPR folks.

Thanks in advance,
RandalB

We use Crane twitch baits and other asst minnow baits----as well as some walk the dog jerkbaits like Magic Makers or the new baits from Musky Kombat-----usually that style of lures gets you some follows or strikes so you know you're in the right areas. Throw blades on the flats----plastics/minnowbaits on the edges----- plastics over open water------and if you troll at night use cranks-----close to the boat and cover water. Good Luck----Pat

Appreciate the tips Pat, any particular colors hot this summer?
Been kinda weird all over with the weather acting up. I was amazed that the water temp was as low as it was...
Interested to see where the ladies are holding with the conditions the way they've been.
Can't wait to get out there...

Wallydiven, if they're in the upper 40's and slimy I'm there!!

Jon,
Just so happens we're staying at Chae and Renee's place on Webster...
Saw a pretty good selection of Bondy's at the local tackle shop, So I will definately grab a couple for deepwater use...

Thanks!

If your looking for decent eats, barbee motel, great.food best pizza. Jimmy's right in town isn't bad. For night life try the frog in Syracuse.

Way to anticipate my next question Todd, Have to buy the MRS some decent eats to make up for the muskie fishing trip...

Trying really hard to get my 12YO son his first muskie, hoping the Indiana waters will be the ticket.

Thanks for the info guys, it's really appreciated.

One thing to consider about eating, you fish till dark, you best move your behind if you plan on eating out. 10pm rolls around you poop out of luck. Most smaller town destinations are this way.

Hey all,
Thanks for the info! Worked your suggestions and had some follows (including one real feisty low 30's that chased a phantom softtail through several passes on the 8) so it was a successful trip. Really trying to put my little guy on his first 'Ski so I will definately keep trying. May have to wait until Oct/Nov for any real chance from what I'm hearing but we will keep pounding.
Thanks Again!
