What's the best place in the MN metro area to fish from the shore? Not owning a boat and my fishing partner not always being available with his boat I'm looking to still get out and throw a lure for a few hours but from the shore. So anyone have any suggestions?

Calhoun is probably the easiest to fish from shore... Lot of steep breaks. Plus good eye candy

I've heard Calhoun twice now so I'll give that a shot, was also told Harriet. Any other thoughts on places to try? As I'll be fishing from the shore I assume top water only? Obviously no crank baits.

I like the boat dock and fishing pier on Bryant for tigers

I also do nothing but shore fish here in the metro. Calhoun, harriet and Bryant are all lakes I frequent, hit me up and I will give you some pointers on where to go, don't want to spill all my secrets out in the open!! I will be out Saturday evening for a bit maybe if you are in the area we can meet up and I will show you.

When I first started muskie fishing all I did was fish from shore as well. The Calhoun chain is probably your best bet. Tonka also has a few decent shore fishing spots as well. When fall comes around make sure to fish some of the channels on Tonka. Muskies will be hanging around there as they transition.

Weaver Lake in Maple Grove also has a dock with access to relatively deep water. It is/was stocked with tigers (not sure if its ongoing I read somewhere they are discontinuing this lake) for a number of years and should have some nice sized fish in it.
