I got a couple different reels (baitcasters)that are making some noise, are there some general oiling points on reels or does it depend on the brand.
Thanks

If it squeels when you cast, it could be the cog wheel. Ive had those a couple of times. I just take out the cog wheel and oil it. Im sure the cog wheel can make some noise while reeling in aswell, but for me it has especially been in the casts, when the wheel spins fast.

They are all basically the same when it comes to "squealing". Take off the the side plate and remove the spool. Take the spool shaft out and clean it. Put a drop of oil on each end. Oil the spool bearings (where the spool sharft goes in to) while you have the reel apart.

By the time they start squealing, chances are they really just need a good cleaning. But in a pinch a few drops of oil will usually quiet the problem.

I like to clean the bearings with a few shots of reel magic and then put a couple (SMALL) drops of oil on each bearing for good measure at least once a season. If they're squealing, it's probably a combination of grease, dirt, water, and general neglect. Easy fix.

Or dip it in the drink(limited usefulness in cold weather).

That does solve the problem for an hour or so, LOL!
