So i moved the boat around in the garage today, i tilted the motor back while its about 15f inside the garage and it barely moved so i stopped and a while later i noticed a small spot of fluid coming from the one of the shafts, how bad did i mess up here?

maybe i blew a seal?

thanks

Yeah maybe, but from my experience it was probably on its way out already, so good time to have it happen. If there is such a thing

The temps went over 40f yesterday so i moved the motor up and down and its fine, a few drops came out and looks to be about it.

Its an Evinrude outboard

I have had problems with my ETEC power trim. I have replaced 3. The first one I paid for, but the other two were replaced under warranty. I thought my failures were related to cold weather as well. But some service guys I talked to said they had them fail right out of the box in summer weather. Seemed like the last two failures I had were in cold weather when I trimmed the motor down for the night as to make sure all the water got out. Next morning- in both cases- the seals were leaking. Once they started leaking my motors never would stop. Mine is a 90HP and it sounds like some of the models have OK trims while others fail quite often.

Best advice I can give you is don't let motor sit in down position when not in use. In other words always keep motor propped on transom saver when not in use. Service guys have told me this should not have any effect on whether it fails or not but the last two times mine failed it was:

1. Cold- below freezing
2. Motor was in down position on the trailer as I wanted to make sure water was out.
