What is the best knot to tie to your leader with 50lb mono? I'm thinking a Palomar Knot but would like your opinions.

Thanks!

That's exactly what I use, and they've held up well to a number of big fish. I use 50lb Big Game, with 135lb leaders that I make myself. I use a Berkley ball bearing swivel at the north end of the leader and a 300lb tuna ring at the business end, with a split ring. In other words, there is no real "shock absorption" going on besides the mono. Never had one fail, but I supposed there's always a first time for everything.

By the way, I re-tie the leader onto the line after each fish...more frequently if it looks ratty.

I use an improved clinch. Never had a problem. I am sure the palomar works fine as well.
