Yesterday was the first day of the Hodag Musky tournament. It also was one of the hottest days of the year here in northern WI. We had out of town company and in the afternoon we went on our pontoon boat for a slow ride on all five lakes on the small Moen Chain, one of the lake bodies fished in the tournament. I was really surprised by how many boats had one guy resting while the other fished. We stayed well away from the competitors but saw that in some boats the guys seemed to be taking turns taking a break. We didn't hit the water until after 1:00 PM, so my thought is that lot of guys were getting fatigued from casting for long hours in the heat. Never saw that before but then I don't remember a tournament where the temps were upper 80s either. My son and I fished it one year and temps were in the low 60s, just about ideal.

Bill, that must be it!

It was upper 80's, and by the time I was on the water they had been out for 6 or 7 hours, and the guys who were sitting, resting were all probably in early to mid 50s, maybe a little older. And I did notice at least one boat on the return trip where the guy resting was the guy casting when we came past an hour earlier.
