How's it goin. I can't get a primer to stick to the stainless. I wear gloves, sand , then tried grease/wax remover, soap/water, acetone bath. Then self etch primer. (Rattle can) then 2 light dustings as instructed then medium wet coat. Humidity 38% temp 70-72. After some more studying today sounds like some of the pros say it shouldn't be painted because of oxidation process but then some say it can be stopped with phosphoric acid (passivation) but that still might not stop it. And some forums say muriatic acid. Aren't the majority of prop fins stainless? Gonnna try the acids next and I suppose a better 2 part real auto epoxy primer. Has anybody had any success with the paint holding after lots of use. Mine does hold somewhat but starts peeling on the edges alittle after 20 cast or so. Is this a losing battle? Even if I do get a primer to initially stick is it gonna peel off over time?

I don't know I guess I like the look. Being able to put a different color tip on the fin also. What is the YouTube Vid link? I have stuck a magnet to all the other painted fins on baits I own and the magnet sticks so that might be the answer to my question. Will have to switch to a different metal if I don't figure it out soon

Pretty sure he's talking about bucktail blades, not his motor prop. Confusing to say the least.

I figured it out. Nope not bucktail blades. 304 stainless props for topwater. Autobody paint stores knew zero about it so I called paint techs. My problem was not sanding it enough and with too light of grit. And paint tech said self etch isn't supposed to work on stainless cause of chromium in it. Once I got better 2 part primer instead of rattle both epoxy and etch are bonding awesome. The first couple times I primed the fins it looked like it stuck but peeled a week later.
