11 fish in only 12 days on the water, so I rated my season good. Got my PB this year. Entered two tournaments and finished in first place in one of them, tied for last in the other. Can't rate it great, not enough time on the water.

Ok I guess but it was my first season fishing in IL on unknown waters. Now that I know the lakes next year will be much better.

I would have to rate this season as an incomplete.
I retired May 3rd of this year so had plenty of time to fish.
Problem was, I just did not go. I musky fished maybe 5 times
all summer. For some reason I just lacked the motivation to go.

Is this normal?

No! I have to work and find time to go about 50 days every year, what are you waiting for?

Terrible except for a couple days in September. Saw fair amount but an utter lack of biters, very short windows which I never seemed to hit (except those couple days).

Was great.... Probably best ever.
WI waters I fish were pretty consistent and put out bigger than average this year for me. Same 3-5 waters I always fish.
Sucks I am apparently getting my season cut 2 weeks shorter than normal due to this freaking arctic blast.

I rated mine great. Boated 41 fish over 30". (We don't count them when they are under). Only get out 1-2 times a week because of work so the fish/day ratio was the best I have ever had.

Exact same total as last year but with a better average size. Found a new pattern, to me, on my local lake that's paid off. Wish I would have been doing it all summer and it probably would have been my best year yet.

Best year here too, that goes for both local and away. Although it's been a tough fall bite, if it ever picks back up that would be icing on the cake.

Won my first tournament and landed alot of nice fish. Couple 45's and a 47 were my largest. Still can't seem to break 50 but for the amount I was able to get out I'd say it was a great year.

Not normal. I retired the same day and fished several times a week! 2 of my 3 fish this year came in May. Had a good year here in Michigan.

Sounds to me like you need a fishing buddy for motivation,

This is normal in my experience. I remember my dad adjusting to retirement. He had all these salmon fishing trips planned out for years how he was going to follow the fish migration up lake michigan. Once it finally happened he went only once in the same old place he always went, and was really not himself for several months. He eventually adjusted, found new tasks to give his days purpose, and got back into the swing of his hobbies. As great as it sounds, and must be, its a big adjustment for sure. Strange first post I know but I felt compelled to respond.

I gave it a good rating.... 99 in the boat (17) 45" or bigger - but nothing over 49" so wasn't great

Cons:
1. hours on the water remained way down
2. didn't make it to LOTW for the second straight year (see #1).
3. didn't meet my goal of fishing MN again (see #1)
4. didn't fish any tournaments (see #1)
5. didn't get new PB (see #1)
6. overall # of fish caught was down (see #1)

Pros:
1. lowest hours per fish caught (7) in nine years (measured as fish > 35")
2. had most memorable surface strike I've ever had. Nice 46" fish.
3. got to a couple very productive lakes I hadn't been to for years, first time on them with my new Humminbird units. Mapped exactly some terrific structure for future.
4. Last fish was on a sucker. Dead calm morning. Saw a couple ripples near the bobber a few times and decided to check after a while. Clicker never even made a peep. Fish must have been mouthing that sucker forever. That's a first for me.
5. I still enjoy every minute on the water.

Coaching baseball and football killed my calendar this season. Until my kids are more independent and dislike me more, I'm involved. Not to be grouchy about my pros because they are how I measure success these days. But I am still goals and results driven so my year was rated "eh...was ok i guess".

Great year ... but defined more broadly a great "fishing" year.

Targeted SMB's 90% of the open water season with consistent success throughout the progression of the season. Learned some killer fall SMB tactics and got some folks on fish with some memorable hot-bites.

2 fishing buddies both moved to Bozeman, MT. so will miss them.

the limited musky outings were successful with the last one being this past weekend with longtime friends fishing big water. we put some quality fish in the boat and added to the memories and friendships we all enjoy.

ready to launch the shack for the best fishing season of the year that is right around the corner!!!

This summer my main goal was trying a number of new waters that I have always wanted to get on. With that being said, I did well. I learned to apply musky knowledge to very different bodies of water, and letting the fish tell me what they want on each water, respectively.

I now have a few new waters that I can't wait to return to next year!!!!

Better because me and my sons learned a ton. Spent a lot more time on the water, learning our closest lake. We have proven spots now that hold fish, some of them huge. Saw more fish than any other year by far. Had more chances at hooking up than ever before. Had our first trip to Tamarack Island on Lake of the Wood, which was awesome.

Like others have said, can't wait for next year!

My year isn't anywhere near over. If I'm lucky it won't end. On a good year the river stays open all year. But so far, it has been a great year for me. This was the most fish I have had in the net since I started muskie fishing 4 years ago and also got my PB as well as my first over 50. 53 to be exact. I am far from a skilled muskie fisherman but have come a long way and feel much more confident. Put my brother on his first muskie ever and think he will be a fishing partner with me for many years to come.

Had tons of fun but fishing was a little worse than the last couple years. I got on the water 20 times, but almost all of those outings were 3 to 5 hours, caught 8 muskies.

Pros:
+ Successfully got both my kids (3 and 1 years old) out for muskies without the help of my wife.
+ Didn't lose a single fish. Missed some hits, but didn't hook-then-lose any.
+ Half of my catches were boatside hits.
+ My friend got my largest of the season on video.
+ Got to net another friend's heaviest fish to date.
+ Finally made it to LOTW.

Cons
- fished about 30% less than last year.
- Most fish caught were small.
- Worse ratio of fish/hour than previous years

The best.I feel blessed with any time on the water. Spent some time in the boat with my family and friends , old and new. Set the hook a bunch and slid the net under fish for others. Overall, a fantastic season.

I would go great. Despite mother nature tossing some hurdles out there all year I had a 50 fish year for the first time in a few years. An 11 fish trip to Ontario in September made that possible. The second to last fish of the year was a 52.75X24 Tanker and the first 50 of the year for me... so other than it ending far too soon I had another great year chasing skii's.

Pretty poor. More follows than strikes, did have one good day late in the season. Seems like the last 3 seasons have gotten worse each year.

Rated my season as great even though my hours on the water were down this year in May and November. By far the most fish boated per hour on the water. But that's because I didn't pound out hours during the slow months.
Lots of personal bests and most caught in a trip for clients. Very good year guiding.
All in all a great year in my Ranger.
My biggest was a 51. 25 x 24 which was a freak for July. Lucky to have multiple people witness the fish and see a great release.
