It varies year to year but Tim mentioned them working on a few scenarios and hoped to have information by the end of October. In the past the dates have been finalized in time for the Milwaukee show and then locations added later on if not posted initially. You're definitely early give it a month or so and see what happens. Everything is based on permitting and that takes time.

I am especially excited that (since Saturday 9/20) I can now compete in the senior divison of the PMTT. Those rules will, hopefully, allow a much more successful season next year no matter where Tim goes. Among the senior (65+) rules:
1. You don't have to go to the lake Tim picks, you can fish anywhere you happen to be.
2. You don't have to get up early, you can fish from 10-2:30 and take bathroom breaks. If wearing "Depends," you can just fish right through the bathroom breaks.
3. You can fish with really small baits if tired cuz bass will count along with musky (as well as perch, gills and bull-heads)
4. You don't have to call a judge boat, it's up to the senior member to say what he had...if he remembers.
5. All senior members qualify for the championship!!!

I'll be having more discussion with Tim about this soon, as I still find some of the new senior rules too difficult. For the young guys, I suggest Mille Lacs again, but only in Mid-August!

But Marty even with the more favorable format you'll still be a donator.

Not fair!! Had a great finish this year with four fish averaging 40 inches in a big event. Well sure...my partner did catch the fish if you want to nit-pick, but it was my net! A lot of good he would have been without that net??

Marty, why don't you just go with "The senior division can use live bait"? Save you from doing all that casting.

I see the Eagle River Chamber website has June 27-28 listed on their 2015 calendar for the PMTT qualifier there. Still haven't seen anything official on the PMTT website for the new schedule or heard of any other locations.

Eagle River is likely too good a thing for Tim and the PMTT to ever give up. The whole town seems to welcome us all, city officials come to the Friday meeting to say hi and express their appreciation, and all the hotels get together to sponsor us a big Pig Roast on Saturday night. I'd say it has the most "feel" of an event you might see at the FLW or other "Pro" like competition in our species. When the big boats pull in to Eagle River for the PMTT, it's sort of like a bunch of cowboys pulling in to town at the end of a cattle drive. Town folk see the money coming down the street and all the welcome signs go up. First class musky weekend!

Full schedule is now on the PMTT site. I also spent some time with Tim at the Ranger plant tour Friday trying to talk him into putting the fourth qualifier back in the schedule. He said steadily increasing numbers makes that a real possibility. I'm really looking forward to Big Vee in August!

I really wish they would expand the tournament further east. They had a championship help on Chautauqua some years ago. I feel like Chautauqua would be perfect to hold another PMTT event but there are suitable lakes in Ohio and PA as well. Can anyone offer any insight as to why the tournament does not venture further east than Cave Run? Perhaps the answer is obvious but just thought I'd pick the brains of those who have consistently been very active in the PMTT over the years

How can the PMTT and First WI Muskies INC both have tournaments on Wissota on the same weekend?

First WI Chapter of Muskies, Inc.
39th Annual Muskie Tournament ** 2015 **

The Muskies Inc tournament has a permit issued already that was applied for last August. Its written for the Holcombe Flowage and includes Wissota on the permit. 175 boats applied for excludes all other tournament permits from being issued for that body of water for any species same time. Something will likely change for the PMTT dates or body of water. The PMTT should be aware of this and be addressing it soon.
Hopefully the dnr link works and is allowed but the info is out there and public....

I live on lake wissota. Should be interesting. Relatively large body of water should be an interesting final. Some very large fish but the lake does have its challenges. Best spot is right off my dock

I'm in for the whole trail this year. Had a blast at Eagle River, Mille Lacs & Pewaukee last year.

Looking forward to Cave Run already!

I heard a lot of really positive chatter about the season at the Chicago show. A clear and noticable return to bigger fields will, no doubt, be aided by the lower fuel prices. It's not nessessarily the biggest deal, but those prices between the road and boat gas should save a team several hundred dollars on a big trip. That, and the other spare cash accumulated with these prices should make it an easier hurdle to participate. I predict at least one sell-out field of the three.

I'm thinking about doing the trail as well this year for the first time. Fished many tournaments but never a PMTT. Problem is the only lake I'm remotely comfortable on is Wissota! Ha maybe I'll get lucky!

Wondering if anyone has any input on the Cave Run tournament (love it,like it,hate it)? I am considering doing it, but I am unsure about the long drive and how much time off of work it would require.

To whom questioning Cave Run 1st. leg of the PMTT answer is love it and worth it. This gives a jump start to the season for us northern folk being our winter is too long. For use its 19 hour drive a 5 day fishing adventure and you go home beat but fulfilled to get through till May!!! The Cave is amazing compares to nothing I've ever fished before but have found to be successful just going out having fun throwing what I know. You go once you won't want to ever miss it.

RE: Cave Run: Once you get back in the hollers and see all the stumps/treetops in 28 FOW, you will want to come back for more. The main lake is pretty nondescript and lifeless (e.g. The Flats; except for the gorgeous mountains surrounding the area), but there are countless spots that are truly breathtaking. We northerners have never experienced anything like it. A definite MUST-VISIT to add to your bucket list. Can't wait to get there again in April!

IIRC, the only chip available for the cave is the Navionics chip.

The reality is that if you just take your chip out of the unit (at least with Birds) the factory settings include a pretty decent map for Cave. It's only if you leave the chip in that the thing looks like a big blob. Or, just look across from the take-off where half the field is already, and fish there. In any case, I can't wait to go!
