| Who would like it if Grandma Lures came back out with the original M9's again.?
I've been working with Dan the new owner on them but wanted to see if the demand for them was good enough to go into production again.
So if they came out again would you buy them?
Thanks,
Jeff Hanson

Location: Eagan, MN | Hi Jeff, can you explain the differences? The only one I have is an M9, but somebody told me that the M9's with 3d eyes were made by Strike King and have a reputation for failing and leaving half of a lure stuck in a fishes mouth. I don't know how reliable that info is, but mine hangs in my garage. I do like the action though. |

Location: Mayville, WI | Heck yes - 1000 times yes! Get the word out to the row-trolling guys, they'd snap them up! Only 2 colors needed: black or blue with the half-moon prism (bigger scale pattern), the "hi-tech" prism on their site.
cast: M9s just had the magic wiggle. A bit wider back than the current ones and w/o the bent lip. The ones with the 3d, big bug eyes are my favorites, never had one fail or break in half & still using them. Worst issue was cracking lips off occasionally.

| The M9's had a straight lip and alot wider wobble and better action twitched.
The new ones have a bent lip, tighter wobble and not as much action when twitched.
I never had a Grandma break other than lips when I was beating them on rocks. But the plastic lips back back then on the originals is no where near as good of quality as it is now.
I liked the ones with the 3D eyes also and thats the ones I'm having him look at.
Thanks,
Jeff Hanson

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | When I first started musky fishing I owned one and lost it to a fish...or a big sunken tree... Either way its gone! I have not bought another because I could not find one similar. Though I have always like Grandma's I started throwing other cranks and twichers because the one that I loved was swimming at the bottom of my home lake, and I was not able to track another one down... or at elast one that someone was willing to get rid of. but if the M9s came back, id jump on a few for sure! First post said it best, great twitch baits! |

Absolutely!! Also, congrats to Dan! Great guy to work/deal with! He did me a big favor a couple years ago, when I needed some Fireballs in a pinch, for a last minute trip to Eagle.
The day after I talked him, the baits were sitting at my front door. Quality baits, quality guy!! |

Location: Muskegon Michigan | Jeff, didn't the mold for the m-9 burn up in Jake's fire? If I remember right Jake had to make a new grandma because the mold burnt up in a fire at his old shop. That was quite a while back as well.
James, there were very few wood Grandmas made. Most were prototypes and those were built a long long time ago . The M-9 was plastic. I have several mint originals that I don't fish. They are collectors items. |

| msky3 Nice love those colors never seen 2 of them.
Mike King- Not sure about the fire destroying the molds, but yes the original mold was trashed.
So a new one needs to get made which is expensive, so trying to make sure it will be worth it- The reason for this post
Thanks,
Jeff Hanson

Location: SE, WI. | Jeff, Way to push for these M-9's. Why they came out with the bent lip one, I'll never know. Running one ft deeper with the bent lip and losing action was a negative for grandma lures. Heck, I've been trying to get other crank bait makers to come out with the old M-9. One thing they need to do different, is to change the hook hangers to a larger ring. The old, smaller rings, bent as there was no room for the hook to rotate while fighting a fish, so they bent, cracked the plastic, and then took in water. Good job Jeff...Keep pushing for the old M-9. Grandma sales will take off again!!! JD |

| I'd buy a half dozen of them immediately if they truly were identical in every way to the original. I'd even like to see the same color patterns offered. I broke the lip on my last prism perch last fall -- tragedy! |

| Sorry to get every ones hopes up. Do to legal issues with the Grandma Lures (nothing to do with me) they will not come out now. I was asked to start this post ( 2 years ago) by the "new" owner so don't blame me. I would have loved for these to come out...Once again all Grandmas will be hard to get.
I cannot comment more so please don't ask.
Thanks,
Jeff |

| While I'm not sure I buy all the doom & gloom, I also have zero idea what is going on behind the scenes. And since the fish love Grandma's on Eagle Lake Ontario...I LOADED up & am not taking any chances. Got about 35 of them, including 2-4 in certain patterns. |

I was up North 2 weeks ago and went into Rollie's looking for a 9" in one of my favorite colors, it was sold out I asked when It would be in and they said it wouldn't and if I saw a another color I liked I better grab it now. So it sounds like they will be hard to get |

| Ronix, re-read Jeff's latest post on the matter. Some sort of legal issues behind the scenes. Obviously its a private issue, possibly still in the courts... |

| The M9 was ( and still is ) the best flat Minnow made. Magna Strike ceased production in 1997. I'm lucky, saw it coming and purchased lots ! I have 18 good ones left now, few broken lips over the years. It has already been said on here the real problem was the small hangers. They must be good even over here I find that English pike prefer the M9 to all other equivalents made !! The jointed grandmas were good too, better than the current Inhaler tackle versions. All the best |
