Depending on where you get your prescription glasses from, you could purchase a pair of prescription polarized glasses in your choice of frame. Then, when you go fishing, you just put on your polarized and you are good to go...
The other option...Granny Goggles...

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Solar Bat glasses also make prescription glasses...these sun glasses are made one at time, here in the USA. They are made and owned by not only an optometrist but also a serious fisherman. Check out http://www.solarbat.com These are the glasses I wear over 230 days a year on the water. |

| I have prescription polarized glasses and they are awesome. For a few years I just wore cheapie polarized glasses over my regular glasses and that was annoying. I am so so so glad I finally broke down and bought the prescription ones! |

| Everybody has their favorites, I like Smith and Costa Del Mar the best. In fact I just purchased new versions of both this year as the dioptor for me has now gone past 2.25. No question that buying the higher price lens with the added nick for the bi-focal gets totally pricey--but still worth it. When you can see farther down into the water coulumn, not have to change glasses to tie your knots, and not have to suffer the added shame of looking like the "old folks," I believe it is well worth the money. |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I got Lasik. One near vision eye (for tying knots, reading, and such) and one distance vision eye. They do your dominant eye as the distance vision. Your brain learns to ignore the fuzzier of the 2 signals and you retain binocular vision. Any old polarized sunglasses then work fine.

Location: minocqua, wi. | problem i've found with Rx lenses that wrap is distortion. i got a pair and it was hard getting used to them. the year i forced myself i was happier than i was without tho so went with it.
this year i finally solved it ... so dumped the jingle for the big-screens and fish with conventional glasses. big enough screens take away the need at least for now.
if your need is like mine ... to see your graphs ... from experience the best thing to do is just buy the big, expensive electronics |

Location: Elgin, IL | I finally went with a nice pair of prescription sunglasses this season and I can't say enough about them. My doc suggested a pair by Columbia. Perfect. With the bifocal part shaded right in there.
Sled, I'm wondering when we will be able to use a Samsung 42" HD on the bow syncd up with the console unit? in my case a HBird 858DI. ?
How cool would that be? I may need it soon.
muskyhunter47, just hope that other more important items keep working as you get older, glasses are a piece of cake......not that it's happened to me though.

| Yea getting older is a beach!! I use my glasses for reading and working on line (fishing line too). My problem is my hands (arthritis). Cold is really bad, but if my hands get wet in cold, warm or hot weather, they cramp up real bad. The only way I can straighten them out is to sit on them. Haven't found a really good pair of glove to keep them warm and fish with. |

I knew people who were "old" acting when they were 30!

At 58 I still don't need glasses to see, I wear quality polarized sunglasses all the time, all year, sunny, cloudy, all the time.
An eye doctor had told me that my sunglass use likely goes a long way towards my eye sight today.

Location: Tennessee | I'd strongly sugges lasik. I had glasses for a few years, then was old enough for contacts. wore them for years but got to where I couldnt stand them in my eyes and had to go back to glasses. They drove me insane hunting with fogging up wearing any kind of face covering and I started checking around. $3000 later I had lasik done and see 20/15 which is great because Army BCGs are the most retarded looking(although useful) eye wear one could ever hope not to see. |

| At 63 and wanting very much to go toe-to-toe with the young sticks out there, I am in constant search of finding any little way where an equipment change can narrow the growing gap between what I can do, and what they can do. Buying the better lenses that are out there is just the tip of the iceberg. Maximizing even little things like line choice can increase my casting distance without expending more energy. Saltwater trolling reels that are a pain in the butt to learn to cast with, can allow my to retrieve at warp speed with the gear system in the reel taking the fatigue instead of me. Nine foot wonder rods like St. Croix's "Big Nasty" allow me to cast farther with only a feather weight to hold, and get me down deep for deadly figure eights that I can no longer bend over to do for more than a handful of casts. Even the big Ranger I drive gives me a comfortable platform to stand on, smoothing out the chop that requires better legs to withstand. In short, while getting older is only a good choice when compared to the alternative, there are all sorts of things to do that will help you cheat the inevitable. I'd be curious to hear from the other "boomers" out there and what you do to beat the effects of Father Time! |

| At 69yrs. I also have changed my fishing. I guess you can call them grandpa googles, bought them at Cabela's. the clip on's leave in to much side light, the sun reflection can be bad. I guess I throw lots of smaller baits, use a revo toro winch, & have the longer rods. I fish out of a 19'6" Stratos & I am sitting down up front in a tall seat. I have been nicknamed the Bill Dance of muskie fishing. I live on musky water so can fish anytime, but usually limit myself to about 3 hrs. & always use the moon patterns. I also use a high speed real with a power crank to work glide baits rather than standing & jerking the rod, I do it with the reel & it works good. My other passion is teaching kids & older people how to muskie fish. I give fishing trips away to different charity auctions & have gotten many people there 1st muskie. I relate to many things Marty, the junkman has said. |

Location: Smith Creek | I've had poor vision my whole life and got Lasik a few years ago. Unbelievable. If you are eligible for Lasik, get it. If you snowmobile, fish, camp, swim, anything outdoors. Glasses and lenses are such a handicap. You lose them, break them, get fogged up and you're lost. If you couldn't hear or smell you'd do whatever it takes to get those senses back.
Best move I ever made, it is THAT good. |

Not if you don't want them to. Both my eyes were 20/15 24 hours after the surgery. |
