Location: APPLETON, WI | After talking to Peter (WI Skis) who had a lot of good things to say about Gerry Carroll and his bucktails, I decided to place an order. I had relatively good success with a lucky spinnerbait for bass incorporating the colors blue and pink. Sounds bizarre - I know, but I opted to try out the different vibrations using the same colors on a bucktail for musky. Hopefully, I have the same kind of luck.
With the state of the economy today, I can't afford to spend upwards of $30 for a bucktail lure so I contacted Gerry. He made a custom bucktail utilizing the colors of my choice and his craftsmanship is impeccable. Aside from the dual #10 Colorado blades, I also opted to go with the very wispy saltwater flashabou for maximum "flare" and flash in the water. Sure, there's no fancy "cowgirl" logo on the blades but for $16... I'm certain (in my ever so humble opinion) that I got a bargain and I cannot *wait* to try out the bait this season.
If anyone is looking for a custom bucktail without the big name price... contact Gerry at: [email protected]
He's great to deal with and he'll get you the bait you need!

| I will put a plug in for Gerry as well. I worked with him over the course of 2 weeks building 6 bucktails. 23 DC10 type baits and 3 DC8 sized baits. Together we turned out some real beauties. I was able to throw one of the small ones last weekend and loved it, easy bulge, great on the 8.
I hope I don't need to buy any more bucktails and I think I filled in the missing pieces in my arsenal with Gerry's girls and Kids. I got them all 6 custom made (which i think is cool and gives me a little more confidence) shipped for $87. You do the math.

Location: Hayward, WI | So Gerry will make up anything you want and charge $14-$16 per bait? Why am I considering buying other double 10's at the show next week? I've always heard he makes a great bait at a great price, but I've never heard what the prices are. Sounds like I need to talk to Gerry!

The custom bucktail in my photo above has the same neon blades posted in the photos by Pal. The blades aren't terribly thick at all... not in comparison to say, a Musky Marabou bucktail by Mepps. Not sure of the exact mil-thickness but...
...regardless, for $16... you really can't go wrong. |

Does he have a website?
Unfortunately, he does not.
But if you e-mail him - he includes a price list, photos of his baits, types of blades, colors, etc, etc. |

Gerry's blades are becoming a name brand in one of the most admirable ways fashionable - honest word of mouth from some respectable names known around the industry.
Great baits - I love 'em, but my wife always get's to pick out more than me. I think I got two more at the Mil swap, and she picked out 4. Sweet deal for me;) |

Definitely. No disrespect intended at all towards "the other guys". I honestly haven't really seen any bucktails with poor craftsmanship from any of the big names in the industry. Just wanted to make a point that Gerry's bucktails are quickly becoming a musky sensation at a cheaper price point. And in today's economy, I'm certain we can all appreciate that. |

Location: Contrarian Island | I might be the first guy to catch a fish on one of Gerrys double 10s...I met him at the Milw swap in the winter of 2005 and started chatting w him in the summer of 2006 about duplicating what the cowgirls were putting out...he did....I have been using them the majority of the time since July or August of 2006...so they have been around a lonnnnngggg time.... this was a ~40 lb beast that chowed one of his double 10s down in 2006..since then there have been tons of fish in my boat on his blades, and sent countless guys to him for bucktails and own more than 100 in various double 8s/9s/10s/12s .... he will make you anything you want...part of the fun is coming up with crazy colors, have him make them...and then catching big fish on them....

| Thanks PSYS for the buckatail info. Great Cost savings for sure!
If Peter (WI Skis) says they are good we'll be ordering from Gerry's.
In the past we bought all our bucktails at The Sportsman in Appleton WI between us, we spent well over $ 600.00 dollars for each trip no need to go there anymore.
Thanks Again PSYS,
Musky Men

The Sportsman did carry Gerry's Tails. Not sure about it anymore but you could still check with them. |

Location: Hayward, WI | For those of you that use Gerry's Girls - I'm guessing that the #10 blades with 2 skirts are the most similar to the Double Cowgirls? I would also like something like the Junior Cowgirl. Would that still have two skirts on it?
I'm picturing 2 skirts has the fuller body of the Double Cowgirl, and one skirt would be more like a Showgirl. Am I thinking right?

- Yes

- Yes with # 8 blades( although that is up to you also, if you only wanted one skirt you could go that route)
I'm picturing 2 skirts has the fuller body of the Double Cowgirl, and one skirt would be more like a Showgirl. Am I thinking right?
- the showgirl has one skirt to my knowledge, correct.
Gerry carries all the different blade sizes and styles, so it is up to you how you want to customize. I would give him a shout.

| A big thanks again to PSYS and Peter (WI Skis) you two guys saved our musky fishing group a lot of money. One member of our group contacted Gerry got the info we needed so each of us are going to have our own blades and tail combinations put together for a lot less money than we you can buy them on a sportshop.
We love it when we can save money especially since the economy is still in a recession and doesn't look like it's coming around anytime soon. Our thoughts and prayers to those looking for work!

Location: brooklyn park mn | i own double cowgirls and tackle booty's and have caught big fish on both. depends on my preference for the flashabou thinner or thicker for the day i guess.. what type of flashabou does he use for his bucktails, thicker like cowgirls or thinner like the tackle industries. big believer that fish like one or other on certain days. hopefully he has both, looking forward to trying these gerry girls out. |

| Since Brad Nelson turned me on to Gerry a couple of years ago, Gerry has made all my Double 10's and several are custom colors. Gerry is the man and big thanks goes out to BN for turning me on to him. I do not quite have the quantity like Brad but pushing the 25+ range. I then was able to turn Frank Walsh on to him at Baystore. Frank has done quite well on his baits along with Dick P. He even has some 12's I believe. Again, not in all the blade colors but enough to get you what you need. Gerry, you are the man !!!

Location: Ohio | The same day this thread was started, I put WTB add in the Buy,Sell,Trade forum looking for Jr. Cowgirls. Gerry sent me a pm saying he could make me whatever color combination I was loooking for. I ordered a few from him and paid less than for these new, than I would have paid for Jr. DCG's used! Great communication, fast shipping and a awesome product= another order already placed.
