Where is the best place to get lure blanks? I've looked at Stamina but was looking for more of a variety.

Thanks guys!

I can add more for you....

I went out to Home Depot and bought a band saw, router table, and band sander. Alnog with some other small items like a drill press, hand sander etc... Once you have that stuff go to a tackle supply store and buy yourself all of the hooks and stuff. The hard part for me was not making the lure and painting it and coating it. It was making a lure that worked well. My first ones sucked big time. I made a lot of firewood to start. Took time to get the hook placement right for weight as well as making sure the bait did not belly role at higher speeds or dive only in one direction. Good luck.

mmclain6101,
Let me know what you are looking for and I may be able to help. Try Rollie&Helens or Thorne Bros. They ahve actual blanks of popular lures. If you want to get custom made, let me know and I may be able to cut a few for you.

Zelinski will make them but they wanted to charge me a 400 dollar set-up fee. If you are a basement builder like most of us 400 is a bit too steep!

$400 is silly! It atkes about 20 minutes to build a template and cut the wood. Another 20 minutes to router and sand.

Here is a guy on eBay selling some nice balnks:

They look good and some variety. This guy looks like he is set up to make a lot of different ones. Better set up than myself at this time.

Just got my site done for my Grunt lures. How do they look and the site? Give me feedback on the price too. The only baits I can find on the net this big are Wishmasters $250-$300 and ones a guy named Danzyce(sp???) $100 for the 16 inch and $150 for the 18 inch model. Mine are priced just above a 13 inch Believer and the 13 inch Jakes and Grandmas. I also did a flat rate S/H of $6 to the US or Canada. 1 or 20 baits, still just $6. I wanted to make it easy and cheap for shipping. Don't know how long I will make these though as the guy who makes the lure bills for most if not all garage baits is not making them at this time and ALL termial tackle places are out of bills or soon to be... Good business to start as this was the only guy I know of that made these bills. Both Stamina and Rollie are out at this time and don't know when they will get more.

TIA
James

I have to look but I have a place that sells all the popular musky lure blanks. I airspray and epoxy my own lures also in the winter months. Will be back with the company name that sells the blanks

If you are wanting to have your design made find somebody that has a lazer or a CNC machine and that might not cost to much. You would have to do your own router work after they cut them out for you.

Zelazoskis builds tooling for production runs with the machines they have. They do good work but for somebody that does not want to make them for years it is costly. They make blanks for quite a few company's including me. If I had it to do over I would go back there but I would do it differently, I am happy with the product and end cost. There is a couple of brothers near Oconto I think that builds lures also, can't remember their name off hand. Nemick or something like that I think.

Wow, those are some old posts of mine AKA Mr. Grunt. Funny to see them now

Mark Nimick(sp?) does good work but he took about 11 months to make me 360 Grunt bodies and I was not happy with the turn time at all. Funny thing was, I told him that was his test run and if he did a good job my next order would be 4000 bodies. When I was setup with my $300 in wood working equipment I could punch out 80 over a weekend and taht was on "wimpy" equipment.... If you want another guy who can do a real good job with a small setup fee let me know. Happy to share his name and email. He can punch our 100s a week with his CNC machine.

BTW, I have unpainted blanks of my Super Cisco, Mag Shad, Sea Cow, Sea Calf and Dingo lures. Will have more blanks of some new lures soon. Shoot me an email if you want the price list: [email protected]
