Great story about a high school angler in Wisconsin who won the WI Master Angler award for the past year. Gabe Stanakowski caught 26 of the 34 species, everything from Musky to burbot. And not just any fish, they have to meet size minimums. Walleye have to be 26 inches, musky 42, largemouth 20 and so on. He caught the last qualifier on the last day of the contest, Jan. 31, a 20 LM bass through the ice.
He fished an estimated 100 days. He is a senior in Wis. Rapids. He said the pandemic played a part because baseball season was canceled and his dad had more time to fish with him.
The previous record was 24 species.

Should have noted that this was from today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, by their outdoor writer, Paul Smith.
