Can a Lexa 400 with a 6:3:1 ratio handle double ten bucktails ok, or would the gears burn out easily?

I opened mine up to lube it, and that drive gear is pretty beefy... JMO..

Been using it for 2yrs with no problems. Currently it's getting cleaned etc. & checked for any damage I may have caused. I have a very bad habit of hitting those extra long handle knobs and engaging the reel mid-cast, alot.

Your Lexa 400HD has a near bullet proof drive train, you are not going to phase the gears burning double 10's.

I actually don't have the 400HD just the 400, would that make a difference?

The HD version has stainless steel main and pinion gears. All others have brass main and pinion gears.

I have used this reel (pre HD) for the last three years, pretty much just for tens. I have a number of different rigs and throw a variety of baits, so it's not like I'm grinding tens all the time. It has been great for my needs. Had Pikemaster look it over this winter when I sent a couple of other reels in, and he said it was in great shape and holding up fine.
