| Hey guys,
Starting to get into trolling after a trip on Green Bay.
Do you think 750' of line is enough or what would you recommend?
Spooled up one to 750' but am now having second thoughts.
Thanks.

| If your using linecounters make sure to fill the spools so that they are somewhat accurate. Using half full spools will give you skewed line lengths. If you don’t want to spoil the whole reel with braid or heavy mono then use a nice 10lb mono and you can just reverse the reel if you want to switch and troll walleyes. Just use your backing! |

| Thanks for the help guys.
I didn't get them all the way full, but I measured out a foot, pulled at the line and the counter was pretty much as close as you can get. |

I think the most important thing is that they are all similar. That way each rod reads the same. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | 750' feet of line might be enough for 2 combos. Just thinking if you ran a bait 100' behind a board and ran the board out 100' from the boat (both of which are a TON of line out) and a fish ran off 50' (it's a true monster) that's still only 250'. |

| 14 and slamr make good points.
I'm used to walleye fishing, the braid is so thin (I fished mono).
I wanted enough to run 8 rods, well, eventually. (Edit) - So, I want enough room to get 6 boards out with two propwash rods.
When we were out, guide had baits out pretty short behind the boards. We were in about 15ft of water or so.
Is there any general guide on how baits run, depth wise?
Again, thanks for the info. |

Location: Ashland WI | There is some books out there that have information on how deep different lures run with different amounts of line out. I think it's called musky mike's trolling secrets??? |
