I have a HDS 5 gen 2 and a HDS 7 gen 2(non touch).

My question is do I need two seperate lake chips or am I able to use just one when the units are networked?

If you use the yellow Ethernet cable, it will share maps. I have 2 gen 2 7's that are non touch and I use Lowrance Insight HD 17

You just have to select the map data as whatever card you have inserted on both units. It takes a few minutes to load up.

You also need to make sure you are at the most recent SW version for those units. The SW that came on them when they were released wouldn't allow chart sharing.

Still not working, auto configured, all settings are correct as far as I can tell. Gunna give lowrance a call...
